Argosy Gaming Company Receives Corporate Excellence Award From
the Alton Branch of the NAACP at 36th Annual Freedom Fund Banquet
ALTON, Ill., May 13 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Argosy Gaming Company was
recognized for its community service efforts by the Alton Branch of the
National Association For the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) at its 36th
Annual Freedom Fund Banquet.
Argosy Gaming Company received the Corporate Excellence Award for the support
of the NAACP in the Alton area. The award recognizes the efforts of both the
Argosy Corporate Office and the management and staff of Argosy's Alton Belle
Casino.
In presenting the award, NAACP branch President James Gray honored Argosy by
stating, "they are good for the city of Alton and good for the Alton area
community."
Argosy Gaming Company President & Chief Executive Officer Richard Glasier
accepted the award and in remarks to the audience stated, "We're very proud to
be a partner with you. Our employees shop and pay taxes here. Their children
go to schools here. We encourage our employees to be active in the community."
Glasier pointed out the company had created two thousand jobs in Illinois and
some 6,500 nationally.
The NAACP chapter also recognized B.P. America for its corporate efforts, along
with individual awards to honored guests, including Leadership Awards to
Illinois Supreme Court Justice Philip Rarick and Illinois Gaming Board Chairman
Elzie Higginbottom.
The banquet chairman was Argosy Corporate Counsel James Butler, who was
previously honored by the Alton NAACP and has a distinguished career of
professional excellence and dedication to community service. Also honored at
the banquet was Argosy's Corporate Graphic Designer Becky Lorts, for her
"single-handed" work on the event's Commemorative Program Book.
