Dish Network will sell one of its cellular plans through Amazon.com, a deal that could deliver the telecommunications company a lifeline as it keeps building out its 5G network.
The deal confirms a May report from The Wall Street Journal, which said the two companies were in talks for such an arrangement.
Dish said its Boost Infinite's $25-per-month Infinite Unlimited wireless postpaid plan will be available on Amazon. The company said Prime members will also get a discount if they buy the Boost Infinite Unlimited SIM kit in the Amazon U.S. store.
With the SIM kit, customers would be able to sign up for the plan and activate their phones without leaving their homes, said Jeremy McCarty, head of Boost Infinite.
"It's a different approach to wireless, elevating the customer experience and keeping things simple," McCarty said.
Shares of Dish rose more than 8% to $8.37 in premarket trading.
