Company to Provide Technical Support to Help VA Deliver Patient Care MCLEAN, Va. and SAN DIEGO, Jan. 7 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) (NYSE:SAI) today announced it has been awarded a task order from the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Office of Information & Technology, Office of Enterprise Development to provide technical support to the agency's Blood Bank Program systems, managed by VA's Health Provider Systems Program Office. The task order has a one year base period of performance, four one-year options and total value of more than $14 million if all options are exercised. Work will be performed primarily in Chicago at the Hines VA Field Office. The task order was awarded under the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) Information Technology (IT) Schedule 70. Under the task order, SAIC will support all development activities and resolve customer technical issues concerning software and associated interfaces. SAIC will also provide services in areas including IT product development, quality management, testing, and system administration. The Blood Bank Program supports clinicians in delivering patient care, and helps laboratory staff in providing safe blood transfusions, meeting blood bank regulatory agency requirements, and required hospital reporting services. The program is also responsible for maintaining and enhancing legacy software, including VistA (Veterans Health Information Systems and Technology Architecture) Blood Bank, VBECS (VistA Blood Establishment Computer Software), and vendor interface applications.
