lol artey, it would mean you just have to get another rack (albeit less impressive in stature)... ;o)
Think APH hit nail on head, with the multi-format release within the one package.

Buy her single on the Internet as a download for 79p or her album for £7-8 and put it on a stick :) 5.1 surround and there you go

This artist is just an Example.

"why would they manufacture sticks when DVDs are cheaper per unit?"

"not convinced, why change something that is broken... ie: dvd?"

Re phrase? :)

Think again about it, JJ

No disrespect to you or others.

Just looking into the future, possibly. :)

neither really matters .... as far as the big Studios are concerned, packaged-media-wise they are going down the combo-pack route to cover all bases ... combo meaning standard dvd, blu-ray, AND digital copy all in one package.

Disney started the trend late last year in an effort to show value for money and beat piracy, now others such as Fox have followed suit.

Disney releasing many more such combo-packs in their Platinum range throughout this year. Good to see that ZOO are authoring services and tech provider for the Studio leading the way ....

not convinced, why change something that is broken... ie: dvd? A memory stick is OK for your pirate material maybe, but still think why would they manufacture sticks when dvds are cheaper per unit?

JJ, I reckon he's spot on. My kid takes copies of our DVDs to Uni, and gets about two or three on each 2gb stick. The compression techniques are pretty fantastic these days, even freeware stuff. I've replayed the stick copies through my biggish HD TV and, with upscaling to 1080i, there really is no discernable difference between the dvd and the compressed copy (the quality is between non-upscaled DVD and broadcast HD). Memory sticks must be the way to go, there are so many advantages over DVD. I'm sure Zoo know this, and don't see why their software is just as applicable to solId state as DVD.

thing is bernie zoos tech would still be relevant for other formats. ie: they would still need a navigation menu. but do not agree with you about the memory stick idea, think you are barking up wrong tree with that one.

The way its going, DVDs will be out of date and everything put on Memory sticks.

HI all, this came out a few days ago.. thanks to APHZOMBIE for his diligence!

wait for the two-page spread to appear, then click on the left hand page. use mouse to roll around the enlarged page to read.

the article is from 27th march MCV online magazine (digital media trade mag) and is written by zoo's US vice-president clynton hunt.

apparently ZOO (and as Hunt puts it "the one and only true original ZOO") is going great guns within hollywood studio video production / home entertainment sector ("growing rapidly" as he puts it) and is now expanding its services to the videogame sector through big interest in its Media Transformation Suite (ie. the MAT tool) which he says has now been extended to support the localisation and regionalisation of Video Games packaging, documentation and marketing materials. Apparently this newly adapted software suite is getting Zoo in front of not only US gaming companies but also back to UK and Eu gaming companies where much of the localisation work for videogames is carried out.

would be nice to get something ... ANYTHING. Are they still in business even? Over 3 months of silence doesn't exactly portray a dynamic, innovative, successful company transforming global media delivery for multi-national corporations eager to slash costs and time-to-market does it?

Rcenetly seen that DGP (one of ZOO's 'partners') just been rescued from a brief period of administration through 'lack of work' ....

Thanks to APHZOMBIE and his amazing research skills for the heads-up on this snippet... cheers. andy.

...found most probable reason for rise a week ago .... looks like this little article in The Independent might have helped things along. Interestingly the "Piracy" thread that this article leads by is alomg very similar lines to a report from (if remember correctly) the Yorkie Post in an article they did back last December, although actual report content is The Independent's own writing. So the question I ask myself is ..... why suddenly come up with this report now? Perhaps something really is brewing? The bit at the end I also find rather intriguing ... "The group claims to be working for four major Hollywood studios" ..... They've never claimed such a thing, not publicly anyway. Can only assume that such a claim has been made to the chappie who wrote the article perhaps?

Anyway, food for thought .....

Zoo Digital grapples with the pirates
By the time this is being read over the breakfast tables of Britain, we will know if Mickey Rourke won the best actor gong at the Oscars. If so, quite apart from it being a crime against cinema, one guarantee is that the fake DVD market will be flooded with copies of The Wrestler, above, for which he was nominated.

While the average punter may think that DVDs for sale at a £1 each is no bad thing, and that a little drop in profit for the film studios is nothing to worry about, the studios themselves do tend to get rather upset about ripped-off copies of their films.

Zoo Digital reckons it has cracked it. The company makes software which it says can speed up the time it takes for a film to get to the DVD market, with the extras packages and language translations put together in about a week, rather than the average 10, and beating the pirates in the race to get the film to market.

The group claims to be working for four major Hollywood studios. If their technology really does work, do not expect to be offered The Wrestler in a pub near you anytime soon.

think people will be getting interested based on FY profit. And turn around of the company, but yes, we are on the verge of deals for all products, I think we may get a blu-ray version announcement, with tie in deals to go with it.
