Yes fascinating and a very good explanation as to why the price of Lithium Carbonate has risen steeply and looks set to continue to rise.

Article on LFP overtaking Nickel based batteries as the preferred type for e/v, which has contributed to the lithium carbonate price strength.

Finished the week up by another Y7,500/T for Li carbonate now Y290,000/T and Y42,500 higher than at 1st Dec! That's nine successive ATHs without retracements. Unprecedented ?

Literally no analyst is saying this is a spike. Demand is long set to outstrip supply for at least a decade.

I doubt it, hardly a spike, more of a recovery from the placing induced low.
There's plenty of hydrogen in the world but the availability of green hydrogen as an available fuel source is still limited. The same applies here with regards to the availability of battery grade lithium.

How high could lithium prices go?I am a holder here but it is worth being realistic about prices. There is no shortage of lithium in the world so the recent rise could end up as a spike, whilst production struggles to meet demand.I remember computer memory chips seeing a similar surge: again, no shortage of sand (silicon) in the world

How high could lithium prices go?

Obviously very much higher than investors currently think. There are few boundaries until something unexpected happens in electro-chemistry - and that's looking very unlikely for years.

The price is up again this week by Y5,000 twice. So what are the flood of sellers thinking today. Can't they read?

EV production is accelerating faster than expected. The lithium deficit will soon begin to affect car production since no lithium mines that I can find are able to bring forward new supplies for at least a year. Zinnwald looks best placed to be the first. Can anyone efute this?

Expect further frequent price rises to ever higher levels for a year or two.

How high could lithium prices go?

"To cut to the chase, we suggest that lithium prices, which are already up 500% from the Q3/20 trough for SpodCon and 700% for BG lithium carbonate, could rise as high as 1300% from the trough."

No wonder Ganfeng are scouring the world for Lithium...

Lithium carbonate prices in China were 277,500 yuan/mt in the start of January, after a 486% surge in 2021, amid rising global demand and supply difficulties.

I don't think they will have anything to worry about with Tesla and VW up the road.Lithium in the heart of Europe

Might be a wise move but imagine the carfuffle if they were later forced to sell to Ganfeng lol!

Gangfeng seem to want a holding in any decent lithium company. It's only a matter of time till a European company take a stake here. This could be a dog fight

It’s shoddy reporting, their holding is what they received from the in specie transfer from their BCN ownership prior to the takeover. ~0.29x~0.31 of the O/S. The secured creditors amount is reflected in the G&P gmbh holding who have been selling down on behalf of the creditors.
