I am very very pleased I was able to pick up so many this week, managed to get in at 0.85, 0.88, 0.9 and 1.05

The reason im so pleased is this statement;

During the period under review, additional vessels commenced operation in which two are series "32" with carrying capacity of 228TEU and others with smaller capacities are chartered from non related third parties. The increase in profit margin by 12.7% to 25.4% during the first half year compared to the same period of last year proves that the size of these newly-designed vessels is cost effective.

They are planning 10 of these vessels!!! and where I was worried about possible margin erosion (see post 288) due to leasing from a related party, margins have actually doubled. wow.

I havent looked at the results yet, will do later, but gotta love the timing of the announcement. Theyre based in Hong Kong! youd think they'd find a normal 7am announcement easy.

Hm........ really don't want to put a downer on this, but there seem to be a few caveats in the results, will have a good look over the weekend.

Went up to 2p a year or so ago.

Jolly good luck to old ARKO'ers, and all holders otherwise. It would be a brave investor diving in right now, after the spike in the price today.

We'll see...

good outlook statement too:

".....coupled with an encouraging start to the year from our trading activities, lead us to expect a marked improvement in the Group's performance in the current year. The Board expects the year end results for the year ending 31 December 2010 to reflect this improvement. "

WJ --I think you will find them on the co website and they were good --look at the spike around June 10th. This co is so below the radar I wonder if I'll ever get my investment back. There is a tiny free float and the shares are not easily traded. It's a great area of business but the chinese owners are not letting too many of us get a slice of the action--I have held since the arko days the business then collapsed and is now turned around well.

And from the link - the port statistics:

As the largest comprehensive hub port in South China, Port of Guangzhou grows by leaps and bounds with its fast growing hinterlands' economy. In 1999, Port of Guangzhou broke its annual throughput record of 100 million tons, to be the second port in Mainland China with such achievement. Afterwards, the port was making great progress year by year. In 2009, the whole Guangzhou Port accomplished cargo throughput of 364 million tons(ranking the 6th of the world) and container throughput of 11.2million TEUs (ranking the 6th of the world), among which Guangzhou Port Group acomplished 250million tons and 8.72 million TEUs.

As usual - some dodgy English there, but definitely better than my Manderin or Cantonese.... For those not aware, 11.2 million TEU's equates to 11.2 million twenty foot equivalents - ie 20' & 40' containers.

In terms of TEU's then, over 30,000 20' units per day (or 15,000+ 40' containers). In reality, a mixture of both. One extremely busy port, YGH holders can but hope the company is handling one or two of these.

Thanks Matt, I'll put your link in the header. As usual when I see this type of stuff, I think that Yinggao cannot fail.

But of course life isn't that simple, the company history and share price tell us so. There is almost (as I'm sure you're aware) a complete lack of publicity regarding Yinggao and its business on this side of the China Sea, odd - given that the company maintains its listing on the London Stock Exchange.
