Uranium equities rally as US Energy Department looks for supply
Australian and US uranium miners have rallied after the US Energy Department announced it has begun looking for contract bids.
The Department stated intentions to use $500m to support domestic enriched uranium supplies.
Paladin is up 9.4%, Bannerman up 6%, Boss and Deep Yellow both up 5%.
Global Atomic has rallied 12%, whilst Nexgen and Uranium Energy are up 7% and 5% respectively.
UK-listed Yellow Cake has rallied 4%. |
Quite a jump today! :-) |
I think KAP's trading statement for 4Q23 and full year will be interesting. Especially their guidance about 2024 production. I don't think they got enough capex away in 2023 to develop their fields to meet their 2024 targeted production.
It would be good to get YCA back to NAV so they can raise cash for their $100m 2024 option with KAP. Let's see what the delivery timeline is. |
fidra, I think it will complete the bowl, and then carry on upwards, probably after some consolidation.
There's a structural supply deficit that isn't getting closed anytime soon. |
I would agree with that Mj.
I am wondering if the chart will form the perfect bowl, and get up to the ATH for uranium.
I suspect it will especially with the Russia problem continuing and demand rising. |
I say this with YCA being my largest holding. I don't think the share price should reflect the value of the uranium held. It should reflect the expectations of where the uranium price will be in future. The spot price has gone up a lot very quickly, and the question is where it will be going next. Perhaps the long-term trend is upwards, but that does not rule out short-term corrections. If you expect this to occur, a discount to NAV is reasonable. |
I'm not sure why this is at any discount at all. |
That's not a particularly inciteful target. The NAV is 746p this morning. |
So they should - at current 93.38 a lb mid price, YCA is valued at 747 a share |
Saw on X that Berenberg raises #YCA to 744 (657)-buy |
Looks like another all time closing high. Spot ticked up to $93.38/lb mid-price according to Numerco. |
And they are in a job 'only' by the grace and favour of the people |
That is because an MP is a continuation of the stupidity that elected it. |
![](https://images.advfn.com/static/default-user.png) Kiwi . I wrote a similar post here to yours , on 24th December , wondering whether ‘ the numpties in Westminster would create a strategic reserve of uranium ‘ . According to today’s Sunday Telegraph ( page 12 ‘ Nuclear fuel plan “ will stop Putin holding U.K. to ransom “ ‘ ) , Westminster ‘ has allocated £ 300 million to develop high-assay low-enriched uranium ( Haleu ) .. A Haleu production hub is planned for the North-West ‘ . Whereas reactors currently use uranium enriched up to 5% , the next generation of reactors needs uranium enriched to between 5% and 20% ( Haleu ) , but thus fuel is currently only produced in Russia , leaving Britain at the mercy of Putin !!! So , the geniuses at Westminster didn’t notice how Putin’s Russia was becoming a hostile state many years ago , with attacks on Chechnya , Georgia , cyber attacks on states like Estonia , Ukraine ( 2014 ) , a mafia-type gangster economy , and considerable numbers of enemies falling off balconies or going to Siberia ! I believe also that , whereas Britain had 15 civil nuclear plants in 2020 , we shall be down to 3 in 2030 , but fortunately Yellow Cake is exposed to the global market . |
👀👀
Western policymakers didn’t see the 1973 Arab oil embargo coming, and, today, in the midst of a multi-front Cold War that stretches from the South China Sea to Ukraine to the Middle East, they’ve so far missed the nuclear cloud gathering on the horizon. The 1973 embargo saw oil prices quadruple. In hindsight, $90 uranium may look like $3 oil. |
