Don't see anything untoward here. For a fund the size of Schroders the only way a small cap stock will move the dial a fraction is if they own alot of it. Might as well be 30% or just short if they believe in the turnaround story. Plus if a potential acquirer hoves into view then they can act as kingmaker.

Not without making a bid or getting takeover panel permission.I suspect they are still hoovering up loose holding from when this was a big company, eg AXA still appear to have 4%.

I don't think they can exceed 30% right.

I thought they would get to 25.1% and stop. Definitely something going on - a takeover concert party maybe? Gonna try for a cheap cheeky 60p takeover?! Just my speculation of course.

Expected this to stop short of 25%. Something afoot here imo.

Personally I would like to keep my shares for the next few years and watch them build this back to a £150m-£200m company (or more).

Currently getting quick returns from bio/pharma. BTC shooting up too - lifting ARB. If someone took this out I would have to find another LTBH for my cash. I like this one.

Schroders could be acting on instruction from a private client couldn't they?

If Schroders knew there was a takeover coming they would be insider dealing.

For those interested in charts, we've got a golden cross forming on the 20/50 day lines.... Often leads to a strong rise.... Although the RSI is a bit high, it's not excessive...No advice intended etc

Well the point is that Schroders if they break 25% can block any price they're not happy with - but they would also need other shareholders' *agreement* for a sale price. So I guess if the other shareholders think 120p is fair then that could do through! It is quite unusual to see a reputable insti taking such a large chunk of a small-cap - IMO the only likely explanation is that they expect or know that a takeover is coming in the next 6-12 months. No advice intended

It should make a takeover easier with one big holder to approach initially.
Trouble is if Schroeder have paid say an average of 40p they might be looking for say 80p to sell. Perhaps worth a minimum of 1. 20 and perhaps 1.50

Perhaps Schroeders are taking a big chunk as they see a takeover as likely. Is it unusual to buy such a large stake?

Yes quite possible that they are, ahem, "guessing" at a takeover soon, and want to get over 25% so they can block it if it's too low. How low is too low? Offers over 80p only perhaps?

Quite a key stone holding. In the event of a takeover they would be the gatekeepers

I see Schroders are still building their substantial stake... What's their plan? Do they see an exit (ie a buyout) soon?

I'd had rather see some profit taking as I was a little late to the party and missed the lows. That said I expect most folk did. It seems there is good support around this level and the chart is also suggesting that as is the Director with his most recent buy. I guess I'll just have to pay a little more.

And the fact that 18M spent on Thin Film will not be spent this year! And the 8M savings p.a. going forward that was referred to!

Garth don't forget the 16M in inventory, and the 2M in net receivables!

I’m expecting a Simon Thompson update today or monday given this is in his 2020 bargain shares portfolio. As i mentioned yesterday the 2 big things for me was the minimal covid impact to date and the CEO share buy. The ongoing print business is still valued at less than zero!

Perhaps the lack of clarity as to Stratasys's intentions is an issue for some. I'm not fully on top of the detail here as I parked the shares in a drawer for a couple of years whilst the thin film man set about destroying the company.
