Personally I would like to keep my shares for the next few years and watch them build this back to a £150m-£200m company (or more).

Currently getting quick returns from bio/pharma. BTC shooting up too - lifting ARB. If someone took this out I would have to find another LTBH for my cash. I like this one.

Schroders could be acting on instruction from a private client couldn't they?

If Schroders knew there was a takeover coming they would be insider dealing.

For those interested in charts, we've got a golden cross forming on the 20/50 day lines.... Often leads to a strong rise.... Although the RSI is a bit high, it's not excessive...No advice intended etc

Well the point is that Schroders if they break 25% can block any price they're not happy with - but they would also need other shareholders' *agreement* for a sale price. So I guess if the other shareholders think 120p is fair then that could do through! It is quite unusual to see a reputable insti taking such a large chunk of a small-cap - IMO the only likely explanation is that they expect or know that a takeover is coming in the next 6-12 months. No advice intended

It should make a takeover easier with one big holder to approach initially.
Trouble is if Schroeder have paid say an average of 40p they might be looking for say 80p to sell. Perhaps worth a minimum of 1. 20 and perhaps 1.50

Perhaps Schroeders are taking a big chunk as they see a takeover as likely. Is it unusual to buy such a large stake?

Yes quite possible that they are, ahem, "guessing" at a takeover soon, and want to get over 25% so they can block it if it's too low. How low is too low? Offers over 80p only perhaps?

Quite a key stone holding. In the event of a takeover they would be the gatekeepers

I see Schroders are still building their substantial stake... What's their plan? Do they see an exit (ie a buyout) soon?

I'd had rather see some profit taking as I was a little late to the party and missed the lows. That said I expect most folk did. It seems there is good support around this level and the chart is also suggesting that as is the Director with his most recent buy. I guess I'll just have to pay a little more.

And the fact that 18M spent on Thin Film will not be spent this year! And the 8M savings p.a. going forward that was referred to!

Garth don't forget the 16M in inventory, and the 2M in net receivables!

I’m expecting a Simon Thompson update today or monday given this is in his 2020 bargain shares portfolio. As i mentioned yesterday the 2 big things for me was the minimal covid impact to date and the CEO share buy. The ongoing print business is still valued at less than zero!

Perhaps the lack of clarity as to Stratasys's intentions is an issue for some. I'm not fully on top of the detail here as I parked the shares in a drawer for a couple of years whilst the thin film man set about destroying the company.

Reminder of highlights from yeterday:

£25m cash at year end. £27m market cap (now £33m).

-- Strong balance sheet with Net cash at 31 December 2019 of GBP25.3 million (2018: GBP27.9 million), significant cash outflows associated from Thin Film GBP18.0 million offset by increased Stratasys investment in Xaar 3D, GBP12.0 million, and cash generated by the continuing operations of GBP3.4 million

-- Significant progress in Xaar 3D Printing saw Stratasys increase its investment from 15% to 45% with an option to acquire the business outright

..........

So, a 30% increase in 3D stake for £12m. That implies a current valuation of the 3D business at £40m

Xaar's share is worth £22m. They have £25m cash and continuing operations throwing off £3.4m in cash pa - albeit at lower margin.

............

"The Group entered 2020 debt free and with GBP25.3 million of net cash. This positive cash position means that even in our most pessimistic scenario for trading during the remainder of the year, along with actions to reduce costs and cash outflow and use government support where appropriate, we are confident that the business is well placed to manage through an extended period of uncertainty."

.............

"Following restructuring we have retained a small team of engineers in the hope of being able to monetise our Thin Film assets and IP."

............

"Product roadmap

Despite the lack of investment in the Bulk technology in recent years, I have been surprised and excited to discover a range of technology projects that are at varying stages of the R&D life cycle. These are all projects that have either been put on hold because resources were redirected to Thin Film or are specific research projects undertaken by R&D team members who were not focussed purely on Thin Film. These technology projects provide a real opportunity to build on the current product portfolio by addressing some of the gaps whilst further enhancing the competitive advantages we have in other areas.

Why a pullback, I’d rather see this gather some momentum, and then pull back, we are not even where we were at the end of 2019, recent acquirers do not seem to grasp how far this has fallen in the last two years.

In a couple of years I think it reasonable to believe that Ebitda could be around 10m per annum. Put that on pe of 15 and add on underlying value of business and market cap could be around 230m. About 3 quid share price. No invest advice intended.
