25/8/2004 11:01 | Royal Agricultural Society Honours Businessman Bernard Harris The agricultural industry has honoured a long-serving businessman. Mr. Bernard Harris, who was awarded an MBE in the Queen's latest birthday honours, has now been made a Fellow of the Royal Agricultural Society. The honour was bestowed on him at the recent Royal Welsh Show on the day of the Queen's visit. With the latest honour comes a place on the CARAS Council for Wales which recommends candidates for FRAgS status. Prior to his election as a Fellow, he has been an Associate of the Royal Agricultural Society for the last five years. A Fellowship is a recognition of an outstanding contribution by an individual person to the understanding, efficiency and well being of agriculture and rural communities. Currently there are some 500 Fellows. Mr. Harris is Managing Director of Wynnstay Plc, the leading agri-supply business in Wales and the borders which was recently launched on the Alternative Investment Market of the London Stock Exchange ('AIM'). | currypasty

10/8/2004 20:16 | Wynnstay growth over the last 2 years has been very good. They are very good at acquiring small companies in the same market to increase market share. However when they move in too new area's such as the property development and the cut flower business they take a 50% stake. Mw8156.. In my opinion Wynnstay has more growth potential, and at the moment is at a good discount to NWF. We are still below an increasing Asset value........ I mentioned Garden centers at one of the AGM'S and they had looked at a number of such businesses. They felt that other areas offered better return on investment. Given the recent results from Wyevale I tend to agree. Dobbies appear to have a good formula in that area, others not so good. | 8 ball
10/8/2004 19:41 | You will not find a forecast DJ. I may be on the low side with that forecast. Wyro the propery development side of Wynnstay have had the go ahead for a new development in Abermule. A number of 2/3 bedroom houses have already been ordered. The Long Meadow, Abermule, Powys 3.25 Acres of Prime Residential Building Land situated in the village of Abermule . All zoned in Local Plan for residential development. The average property in this area is about £170,000 and you can get a few on 3.25 acres. The company as a good land bank for many more such developments. Email me at the same address as in the past DJ as I am unable to put to much in the public domain. | 8 ball
10/8/2004 19:39 | Just wonder if NWF has more growth potential and a stronger position in distribution fuel and garden centres than WYN though also a bad pension position. | mw8156
10/8/2004 14:16 | 8 ball: can't find any forecasts. Where do you get the £2.6m after tax from (or should that be £2.6m pre tax?). And how many shares are in issue (I'm not quite clear about that)? | diogenesj
10/8/2004 14:07 | Blue today, up 5% on a couple of buys | currypasty
29/7/2004 19:34 | Just compare this to NWF and you will see that we are still looking undervalued. Market cap is still less than asset value. That can not be said of NWF who are on a PE OF 12. IMHO Wynnstay's performance is better than NWF, the company also has more growth potential. So the only reason for Wynnstay groups current discount to NWF is it's lack of time on AIM. This is sure to be corrected in time, as people become aware of it's value. Prior to the last set of results I felt £2.30 was fair value and would have sold given the chance. However following the good results I can see us rising to £2.50 without to much trouble. Curry.. I make the pe 7 based on 2.6 million profit after tax please correct me on this if you feel my est of 2.6 is wrong. So put us on a pe of 10 (still less than NWF) that gives us a share price of 330p | 8 ball |
