Private capital favours investing in copper over gold for first time

Gold projects are no longer the favourite destination of private capital raised for investment in the mining sector as optimism about electric vehicle demand steer funds into battery metals.

Private-equity deals in the mining industry bounced back in 2017 according to a new report by UK law firm Berwin Leighton Paisner with investment in the sector jumping by more than 30% to $2.3 billion.

43% of fund managers believe it has become easier to find attractive investment opportunities in the metal and mining space
Copper overtook gold as the most attractive commodity in 2017, with $1.6 billion in deals representing just shy of 70% of all money flowing into the sector.

If the current price was based on news of single event then we might expect the share price to drop back on profit taking but we're seeing layer upon layer of good news and there's much more to come;H2 resultsTschudi Q3Kitumba final signatureIndaba newsKitumba BFSCentral Ops go aheadOngombo or similar licencesBerg Aukas (?) zinc.....and the big one for me is debt restructuring and the removal of the going concern qualification which de risks WTI for institutional and more risk adverse investors.

The way the stock has been performing against volume has been good, todays morning drop of 10% was a quick top up chance, i would expect drops along the wAy just as SOLG did when it rose to over 40p.

of course I do but, nothing goes up in a simple straight line ... it'll be a staircase rise & there will be periods where the traders exit and the price drops, particularly absent news. We are hardly going to get RNS like this every week are we?
Not difficult to see that, is it? & neither is that at odds with my earlier post.

Have been here, in one way or another, since 3p in 2009 & will remain invested until my 90p price target is met.
There may be a more regular newsflow from now onwards, courtesy of more assets & more activity but, there'll be dead periods
