An interesting snippet on cocoa which I hadn't come across before.

"...
When Anthony Ward of hedge fund Armajaro, spent £650 million on 240,000 tonnes of cocoa beans this summer – after which the price of cocoa plummeted as Ward's fellow hedge fund managers bet against him – it seemed to confirm the belief hedge funds are now playing fast and loose in the commodities world, as they had in the subprime mortgage market years ago. Last month ETF Securities Cocoa fund was sitting at 18% down on its January price. ..."

I've still got hopes for a modest uplift in cocoa.

I'm still bullish on cocoa; must admit though the 'long-term' seasonal charts aren't as clear on this commodity as say corn, wheat or sugar.

Well on a technical level, I saw a reversal in sentiment during the last week of September. Confirmation from the subsequent significant higher low convinced me to take a position last Monday.

As a technical trader I don't know the reasons for the change in sentiment, nor am I particularly interested.

All the best.

18 x gearing on that warrant probably explains it.

Tried to get hold of some SH04 this morning. Failed miserably. They are now up 60%. Hey ho.

Make that 66%. B....y hell. Virtually no move in COCO or LCOC.
Can't see any particular news item. Anybody seen or heard anything particular?

From yesterday

"...The gain was partially driven by an announcement from the Indonesian Cocoa Association; the group said that the nation's output of cocoa beans would fall 9 percent to 500,000 metric tons this year. Originally, growers had hoped to boost last year's production of 550,000 tons to 600,000 tons, but the weather isn't cooperating..."

This seasonal chart may be of help. I wonder if 2010 will conform.
