21/4/2017 18:20 | Ended the week with 67% cash, DLG my main add today. Positioned for a nice dip, but you can't always get what you want as the song goes ). | essentialinvestor
21/4/2017 18:15 | Hi pat... It's not good, not good at all, I've sunk back to +0.34% for the year. Sold two more today. Sold POLY for a 10% gain - will look at rebuying lower if i get the opportunity Sold TUI for a 8% gain - don't think I'll rebuy. Happy with my profit and will look at re-investing elsewhere. Also sold a handful of BP. earlier in the week. So sitting on a fair bit of cash (for me now) | gateside
21/4/2017 17:27 | Crude selling off hard again atm, WTI sub 50. | essentialinvestor
21/4/2017 17:00 | The calendar year performance table is shown below :- FTSE250~~~~~+07.75%~ Invisage~~~~+02.80%~ FTSE AS~~~~~+01.90%~~(387 Videans~~~~~+01.67%~ FTSE100~~~~~+00.54%~ Gateside~~~~+00.34%~ Our portfolio now consists of 23 companies as I re-bought some RTO this afternoon. Added significant amounts of FTSE100 tracker shares during the week so our stock level has risen to 59.5% from 43.4% at the start of the week. | nasdaqpat
21/4/2017 12:47 | Pat, I wish!, very rudimentary I can assure you. | essentialinvestor
21/4/2017 12:43 | Are you au fait with JMAT, EI? Been terribly weak for months now and Gateside and I are clueless about why. | nasdaqpat
21/4/2017 12:39 | Well, I know where to go for Fundamental analysis then. Thx EI. | nasdaqpat
21/4/2017 11:53 | Thank you for the GSK view. I can only really comment on fundamentals, and the Teva new inhaler launch is weighing on sentiment. In terms of the Q update, very much hope the new CEO will launch another restructuring round to take out further costs, GSK don't really have an any option with pricing pressures, so it either happens now or later. Vaccines and consumer healthcare side are attractive, however disagree with the current dividend, would prefer it was rebased by about 35% lower. ViiV potential is also underestimated in my view. Longer term either they will merge with NVS or AZN imv, with an outside possibility of Pfizer. If its NVS or PFE that would require certain guarantees given to HMG, because of GSK strategic importance, some operations kept in the UK etc. | essentialinvestor
21/4/2017 10:30 | Pat, I'm frequently conflicted ) Added back a few LLOY at 63.94. | essentialinvestor
21/4/2017 10:24 | CNA is 1 of about 170 companies I track daily for about 15 years but not really considered Buying it for some time now, partly cos I don't like investing in Utilities. Surprised you've had a dabble after reading your last post. | nasdaqpat
21/4/2017 10:12 | Hi Pat, no probs. Don't mind the unloved, but CNA is loathed!, so would never buy in quantity. What I also did not like with CNA was the last unexpected share placing, when on their previous FY conference call they stressed about 10 times the strength of the balance sheet, and that was with crude near $40. So what they effectively did was pay out a dividend that even after rebasing lower was still too high, and then just clawed back this money, and more, by issuing more shares. | essentialinvestor
21/4/2017 10:08 | Apologies about the false assumption re CNA. GSK is interesting as it could go either way on results. On balance, I think it formed a new segmental base @ 1147.5p on 6 Dec 2016 and today's 1558.5p could be the base for a third Up wave of c13.0% leading to a new Bull high of c1761p. | nasdaqpat
21/4/2017 09:58 | GSK, £1.8K down on atm, that is a larger position. However "risk" position currently is holding that % cash, at least in my way of looking at it. | essentialinvestor
21/4/2017 09:54 | Pat only started adding CNA yesterday as posted on the CNA board, it's just 2.000 shares atm, £64 down exactly as of now, that includes costs, it's not high conviction. Might go to 3,000-3,500 shares, not above that. | essentialinvestor
21/4/2017 09:50 | SKG had been doing well albeit off with the market recently but you must surely be losing on CNA which has been dire since 2015. That can be the problem with a 'short kill' strategy, sometimes they turn into bad long-term holds unless one is very disciplined I suspect. | nasdaqpat
21/4/2017 09:42 | That makes 5 including SKG & CNA. I bet you've got a few others hidden under the mattress. LOL! | nasdaqpat
21/4/2017 09:39 | Thx EI, that's interesting so just the 3 companies currently then? I've often considered a similar (if not identical) approach where one doesn't have a portfolio per se but goes in and out (with relatively large stakes) of a variety of favoured companies as and when opportunities arise picking up small percentage (c5%) but cash rich gains and then moving on to the next trade (assuming a good one can be found). By this method, one wouldn't need to deploy a great deal of available capital which to my mind is a good thing. For example, a £20,000 stake in GSK @c1560p looking for 5% (c1638p) should be forthcoming within a month and would net a cool £1,000 profit with very little risk. Bring in 4 of those a month and one can live comfortably with very little angst. We are graduating to a variation of this approach but are looking to pull it off with FTSE100 trackers which eliminates the pitfall of bad stock selection. | nasdaqpat
21/4/2017 09:28 | Pat, I added to DGE below 21.90 near the open, hoping for lower. GSK beginning to look interesting, on one big proviso- next week's Q update is inline, and outlook guidance remains unchanged. Added to SKG yesterday at 19.57. Had a very small amount of CNA. | essentialinvestor
21/4/2017 09:15 | DGE and GSK are my main holdings atm, and some DLG. | essentialinvestor
21/4/2017 09:06 | Wow! I know I keep asking this (and please keep ignoring me if its private) but what shares are you left holding? | nasdaqpat
21/4/2017 09:01 | I'm 68% cash atm, won't even try to justify that as it breaks all my rules. Closed off LLOY yesterday and that was a large trade. | essentialinvestor
21/4/2017 07:57 | Bit surprised at that rally from the Doodles yesterday...maybe their controllers think that a 2 Down wave, 34 day, (03.73%) decline is enough for DOW and its off to the races again. NAS Comp & NAS100 already look poised to create new highs via their 9th and 8th Up waves respectively. FTSE, meanwhile, looks to be anchored near corrective lows! | nasdaqpat
20/4/2017 22:27 | I'll update percentage in shares after tomorrow's sell | gateside
20/4/2017 20:42 | Thx Gateside, makes sense! And your current stock level percentage? | nasdaqpat |
