27/10/2002 14:55 | Warrants are high risk, make no mistake. Further few people should actually tarde them and only with a goods understanding of the product and a very disciplined trading system - others wise they can destroy wealth... A on-line risk assesment guide at | pateman080
27/10/2002 14:23 | Zero dividend split capital investment trusts were sold as a relatively safe means of investment (which many of them still are) unfortunately due to some of them having crossholdings in over split trusts and investments in technology shares the inverstment was in fact a relatively risky one. Nearly all warrants in contrast are clearly highly geared high risk investments which would be expected to provide high returns or losses depending on the direction of the underlying instrument. No-one in their right mind would sell these as safe investments. | cassiopeia
27/10/2002 14:08 | DrBeat Making money with warrants is all but easy. It does however give you the opportunity to take posistions on an underlying which in itself has too little reward, but also low risk. By gearing that reward up a bit, whilst managing the geared risk, you can take some nice regular profits! It also gives you the opportunity to take positions in view of volatility increase. 27/10/2002 13:13 | drbeat, A timely warning! Because the product is new, there may well be a feeling that making money via covered warrants is easy. (I remember all those in the office that thought a lottery win was a formality, a lot easier than winning the pools LOL!) I fear the same attitude may prevail with covered warrants, at least to start with, until reality finally hits home. Caveat emptor etc. Andy. | ahkeen
27/10/2002 13:09 | RETIRED pilot Herbert 'Tug' Wilson has led a full life. He fought in the Second World War, spent time as a prisoner of war and enjoyed a colourful career flying for African airlines. He deserves a comfortable retirement. Hero: Herbert 'Tug' Wilson But Tug, 83, is one of thousands of investors caught in the split capital investment trust* debacle. His £7,000 investment in the Aberdeen Technology & Income fund has plummeted in value to £20 in just two years. Tug says: 'The investment decision was my own so I can't whinge too much. But these split capital trusts* were marketed as safe investments, which now seems very wrong. In a similar way to Split caps, we are now seeing Covered Warrants being promoted. 25/10/2002 11:51 | My initial investment was 300 pounds to buy 15000 Tamaris shares at a price of 1.75p. After the first share consolidation (when Tamaris became WTS), my holding became 375 shares. After the latest consolidation, I am the proud owner of 18 shares, worth a grand total of 60 pence at today's prices. Why don't WTS do the honourable thing and go into liquidation so at least I can claim 300 quid of my Capital Gains Tax liability without having to sell my shares and incur 12.50 dealing charges? | happygolucky

14/3/2002 20:30 | I am still looking for clues. | arthurconboy
11/3/2002 18:29 | This has got to be one of the most confusing shares that I hold. Why do people buy shares to the value of £7 - £12 on a regular basis, the dealing charges are probably more. I doubt if it is someone using their pocket money. Suggestions anyone and where do you see this company going. | jay aitch
11/3/2002 00:17 | WTS has suffered badley in the world down turn having been exposed to the events in Japan. However with Uncle Sam making a come back and the UK starting to show an interest it stands to reason that the Japanese economy will also pick up. Reports of serious goverment reform in Japan would suggest investment in Japan now might produce a good profit in about three to five years time. Can anyone tell me of any other firms who at the moment have any exposure to the Japanese economy. | arthurconboy
20/2/2002 00:52 | I am indeed. Looks like MM's trying to entice sellers after upping the bid. No news though, MBO could be on the cards. | fongrang

04/2/2002 19:33 | 43 shares! Obviously someones buying in for a takeover! lol Regards Mike. | devil20
04/2/2002 13:02 | I also hold a few, but my faith in this stock has just been shattered. Someone's just gone and sold 43 shares, probably liquidated their whole portfolio! | 3859
17/1/2002 20:43 | Blackdogfred. If youre still out there I've just read on the MONI board that JPMORGAN reckon there's better times coming this year. Mentioned Emerging Asia and Japanese economies. This might help WTS as they trade in Hong Kong and Japan.I bought a few of these cheapies some time ago just in case their business picked up after the global slowdown, especially the US which affects those countries. We can live in hope! Regards Mike. | devil20
09/12/2001 23:48 | WOTS THE GEN ON WTS THEN. BLACKDOGFRED | blackdogfred |
