07/8/2009 23:23 | The trouble is that if all the ADVFN "sells" are in fact buys then the bid/offer price is giving a false impression of the share value. It would appear that the buy price should be 0.5 and if we assume that the sell price is correct at 0.25 then that gives a mid price of 0.375, or actaully a 50% drop in price rather than the 33% showing. If we further assume that the new shares would have to be offered for at least a 20% discount this gives us a range of 0.3 - 0.4, taking into account the "real" buy price, and the prices of the assumed buys that have gone through today. The other possibility is that the offer price has already been set at 0.5 (or below) and that this has somehow "leaked" - hence today's big drop. Don't know about PMA but I can't see that happening here. Would love to be proved wrong and see something higher, I guess we'll know shortly. | saywellxxx
07/8/2009 16:29 | Is there a chance that the placing could be higher than current sp? PMA for example placed at 1p when the shares were at .2p! | mike_f
07/8/2009 16:21 | I'm sure the board are cautiously optimistic..... | swag2
07/8/2009 15:48 | Surely the placed shares won't be any lower than the current sp? 33% drop today... seems like all the trades have been buys... | mike_f
07/8/2009 15:46 | The AGM today approved the issue of further shares which I would assume will have to be offered at a discount toi attract any buyers, and will clearly dilute current holders. This allotment includes the issue of shares to Milocz to repay some of the loan. Have a few of these but not really tempted to top up until the fund raising is out the way and we can see some light at the end of the tunnnel. | saywellxxx
07/8/2009 15:39 | Was offered .42p from Halifax after i bought some... it would seem all trades are buys... | mike_f
07/8/2009 15:23 | 62.68% of shares are not in public hands. Could move back up well with just a few buys... all trades today look like buys as i bought mine @ .44p and the rest are .5p can still buy on Halifax under the mid. | mike_f
07/8/2009 15:13 | Worth a punt at this price? Could bounce as dropped on no news and can buy below the mid price... | mike_f
05/5/2009 08:25 | barnetpeter Thanks for your positivity - I'm finding it hard to find any, although I agree about the back catalogue and I think there are signs of hope. I'm just stuck at a much higher price and need a couple of years of profit-making to replace the loss-making.....I was attracted by the idea of supporting the film industry and need fresh inspiration here. | don carter
04/5/2009 12:54 | cfl has a lot of debt though - wks does not. | barnetpeter
04/5/2009 12:52 | If i had to get involved again in the sector then i would ignore this one and buy Cfl, Cfl has almost dropped to the same price from around 25p a few years ago and is obviously the much better player, cant see the attraction here except from a couple of day traders hoping to make a fast buck here. | 8trader
04/5/2009 11:32 | Don - this has been a real dog as everyone agrees. However, the company itself is fine. The business - cinemas and the dvd mkt are booming as they are seen as a cheap night out. Its the lousy management that is the issue. The company made a substantial gross profit in excess of the mkt cap but the expenses were just too high - salaries? Many of the old guard have now gone - see below. It is worth this mkt cap and may suprise us all one day. It did so once before when soaring to 25p on a large profit. One big hit is always the dream like one big oil discovery for the oilers. Jesting about the ramps (I plead guilty) apart, the company does have a decent back catalogue of films that does bring in a regular income every time it is shown on tv. It is frustrating that it has not got its act together particularly when you look at some of the new releases. Such as this one with Julia R. FIREFLIES IN THE GARDEN (2008) Cert: TBC Release: May 29, 2009 Director: Dennis Lee Cast: Julia Roberts, Ryan Reynolds, Willem Dafoe, Emily Watson, Carrie-Anne Moss, Ioan Gruffudd, Hayden Panettiere I am also pleased to report that we have begun a transformation of the Works International which should drastically improve that division's performance moving forward. The first step was to develop a trading relationship with Quickfire Films, a fund which should provide The Works International with a steady stream of highly marketable films moving forward. The second step was to coax Carl Clifton, who until the end of 2008 was the COO at one of our competitors, Handmade Films Plc, to become managing director of The Works International. I expect Carl to reinvigorate our brand and scale our trade in the foreign sales market. | barnetpeter
02/5/2009 08:46 | It's a shame they have only sold 119k Mongol DVD units. That's quite low given it's a great film and was in the DVD charts for quite some time. This company has always delivered some great material, but just struggles to make money. I'm sure there is some value in the company and it's catalogue, but shareholders need to get some of the benefit. | topvest
02/5/2009 08:43 | 8Trader - Thanks for that. Perhaps more will be revealed soon. Barnetpeter - Agreed about unlocked value, but the competition sounds fierce in a tough market, and barriers to entry are low, and dropping, so it will remain so. I don't suppose a decent management from a bigger, comfortably capitalized, outfit might see this as good value they could unlock? I dare n't hope....... | don carter
01/5/2009 23:41 | It baffled me as well, i read the results just moments after they came out, also checked L2 and saw Shore Capital switch to offer which meant 1 bid 0.5p and 2 offer 0.75p so it was a bit of a surprise to see how they closed as i could see no reason to buy them but in this market anything decimal dont need a excuse to soar :-)) | 8trader
01/5/2009 23:17 | LOL Pav, I'll buy just one to help you out and see how it goes | owenski
01/5/2009 22:08 | LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, please buy this share on tuesday first thing because this share is seriously undervalued, the most credible management team, and a fantastic looking chart, the mongol rights are worth 10x current market cap blah blah blah....also i have shed load of shares i want to offload onto you mugs when the price rises | pav 1
01/5/2009 19:57 | This has been such a dog it has spots on. But there is a lot of value in the company. All those back film catalogue. This was a great film: The best performing title of the year was the Oscar nominated Mongol: The Rise To Power of Genghis Khan. Mongol is already our most successful DVD title to date achieving in three months what the second best performer in our catalogue Three achieved in three years. I expect Mongol to make a material contribution in 2009. The Mongol rights are easily worth current cap. A decent management with a nose for business could transform WKS. But, I hear you say ....... | barnetpeter
01/5/2009 16:22 | From the results: "the board is cautiously optimistic that funding sources will be attracted to the unique proposition offered by The Works Media Group". It's a unique proposition alright, lend them your money and watch Works Media shred its value bit by bit year by year...... | don carter
01/5/2009 16:16 | Feel the same way SM.....Can't understand the buying today at all, but glad for the uptick.... Those results are not good at all, and they need to raise capital to survive in 2009. | don carter
01/5/2009 15:58 | Frankly, I dont care who buys as long as someone does... I have a good few thousand of these in my bottom drawer... Thought they were there for the duration as I bought 15 mins before the rights issue . to say i was not happy would be an understatement... SM | supermum
01/5/2009 15:35 | Mr barker buying again ?. | partner
16/3/2009 17:35 | That wouldn't explain the resignation though I suspect. Hopefully, it will retain its listing. Done quite well this year with Mongol and Man on Wire. | topvest
16/3/2009 17:32 | Or perhaps the company is going to delist as so many AIM companies have this year. Either way, WKS has been a disaster for investors. | barnetpeter
16/3/2009 15:58 | Hmm interesting. Financial troubles or potential bid or director disagreement...take your pick. Maybe Crispin will launch a bid? | topvest |
