Samsung reports strong Galaxy S sales - can't be a bad thing..

Well yes, the update was taken badly..But then the market had convinced itself that Wolfson was going to post a profit this half, and that seems unlikely now.It'll be next year, hopefully, but the market doesn't like to wait!

Yep GPedro2 - there must be a very good "good news" story for 2014. Looking back at the half-year update, there were a number of positive and new developments.

And I am hoping that the 2013 Q3 update will be well ahead of the 2012 Q3 update. Plus, looking forward, the full year 2013 figures should be well ahead of 2012.

The update at the start of this month seemed to be almost unnecessary but has taken the edge of what is a stock with a lot of potential.

I agree, and I think the prospects are looking good for early next year.Fingers crossed they don't drop any more bombshells in the meantime!

Some unusual trading on this stock. I'm expecting that next week's update is not as bleak as the share price might suggest so I've taken the opportunity to add some more.

positive piece in The Times yesterday - bottom of the cycle bla bla , mems going well bla bla ; looking to the future bla bla , will always be a path of ups and downs - how true !

We bounced nicely from 140p last time. I'll be looking to see if we can hold that level otherwise we are heading back to £1

Well, the share price might be subdued for a while unless we see a bounce due to it being oversold (interestingly, the volume hasn't been that huge) or we see a potential takeover.

Its always about the future, I sold at a loss and will not be going near these again. How long will the cash last ?

They need to start delivering on the potential that they have. I liked the comment - "Wolfson continues to see strong widespread traction at all other major customers, especially for its new Audio Hub and MEMS microphone products where design-in activities are progressing well."

Just needs to be translated into cash in the till!

OK - 2 days ago was not the buying opportunity I purported it to be. Today could be though.

I think the fall has been way overdone. Long term prospects are still pretty good.

I think the rise is simply that the fall was overdone due to the Samsung news. It seems that any hint of bad news will be jumped on. There's potential in wlf and I reckon that it will, at least, return to the 220p level, imho.

Samsung teasing a new Exynos focused on audio features, but what are they planning?

Qualcomm's Snapdragons get all the attention, but Samsung knows a thing or two about making chips for smartphones. Unfortunately, they haven't been able to successfully put their Exynos chips inside devices that sell in big markets like the United States or Europe. Sure, there are a few Exynos octa-core powered Galaxy S4 units floating around South Korea and several small Eastern European countries, but they don't really count.

Which brings me to today's "news", if you even want to call it that. Samsung has uploaded two photos to their @SamsungExynos account. One features a guy standing in front of a microphone, another features a guitar being played. Both images have captions that offer absolutely no clue as to what Samsung is planning.

So with all that in mind, I'd like to take a few guesses. First, I think Samsung is going to announce that they've baked Wolfson audio technology into a new processor. For those who don't remember, Samsung signed a deal with Wolfson back in April of this year. What exactly would a Samsung chip with a Wolfson be able to do? Output insanely high quality audio.

Second, Samsung could have very well developed their own microphone technology that enables you to record videos with "studio quality" sound. And it isn't enough to just stick really good microphones inside a phone or tablet, you need the chip in there too to do the heavy lifting.

Do you have a better sounding (no pun intended) theory? I'm kind of stumped here.
