@roguetraderuk - agree they have been slow on FX hedging, just like they were slow on oil price hedging a few years ago. You have to question the board/management competency.

I bought another £25k this morning at 1202 average. Happy to hold. 2025/6 will be a return to profit. 2026 will see a marked jump in share price...imho

Results were ok and good in parts but the FX charge was a kick in the nuts. They need to manage that as best as possible moving forward which they have put some measures in place. The engines and Fx (both external issues) are the excuse that has seen Wizz get manipulated and hammered. Other airlines seem to get away with it. That's ok though as then you get these prices and with patience will get great profits.

The quicker they put the 24/25 year behind the better. End year 4th quarter won't be the best either at they miss Easter. That will boost Q1 25/6 though...

hedging at this point may be like closing the stable door after the horse has bolted, but i suppose they have to be seen as reacting. its poss the usd can travel a bit further but theres only a few percent in it. the question should be asked why the airline didnt hedge before as its common practice.

Wizz Air's Q3 results show both positive and negative aspects:

Positive Aspects:
Revenue Growth: Total revenue increased by 10.5% (€1,176.8m vs. €1,064.8m in Q3 2023).
Passenger Traffic: Record 15.5 million passengers carried (+2.6% YoY).
Improved Load Factor: Increased to 90.3% (+2.7ppt YoY).
Strong EBITDA Growth: €157.1m, up 740% compared to last year.
Fuel Cost Reduction: Fuel cost per available seat kilometer (CASK) down 16.3%.
Operational Improvements: On-time performance increased to 75.5% (vs. 72.2% last year).
Cash Balance: Strong at €1.6 billion.
Negative Aspects:
Net Loss Worsened: Increased to €241.1m (vs. €105.4m last year, a 128.7% increase).
Higher Costs: Ex-fuel CASK increased 16.8%, mainly due to maintenance costs.
GTF Engine Issue: 40 aircraft expected to be grounded over FY26 due to Pratt & Whitney (P&W) GTF engine problems.
Foreign Exchange (FX) Loss: A €160m negative impact from currency fluctuations.
Debt Increase: Net debt rose to €5.14 billion (+7.3%).
Pratt & Whitney (P&W) Engine Issue:
The GTF engine problem continues to impact operations, grounding ~20% of Wizz Air's fleet.
A new commercial support agreement with P&W was signed for 2025-2026, covering direct costs of grounded aircraft.
Access to spare engines and maintenance slots is being negotiated, with a decision expected by the end of Q1 2025.
Fleet growth projections were reduced, with 305 aircraft expected by 2028 (previously 380).
Conclusion:
Despite strong revenue and operational performance, Wizz Air is struggling with rising costs, net losses, and the ongoing P&W engine issue. The company remains optimistic about future growth but faces significant financial and operational challenges in the near term.

Terrible RNS * Disappointingly the benefits of the stronger demand environment did not flow through to our reported profit level due to these cost headwinds and a significant €160m negative FX charge recognised in Q3. This reflects the requirement to mark-to-mark our US$ denominated lease exposure at the ruling rate at the end of each quarter. While a non-cash item, it has the potential to introduce significant volatility to our reported profitability (with an FX credit of €88m booked a year ago for a €248m swing year-on-year). Given the current volatility in FX, the board has approved a hedging program to help mitigate this in the future, the timing of which is yet to be determined given current ruling exchange rates."*
