20/1/2012 10:47 | Difficult to see how that can happen, however with the position it has in the market place, new processing applications to replace peat, cash on hand, and potential acquisition targets - who knows - only blip is the ongoing compensation issues and a high pension deficit only with significant contributions to make, time will tell. It could be sensible in part to plug the gap with a small contribution with the compensation from Natural England. | bookbroker
20/1/2012 08:55 | Well I have a shed load of these left over from sometime in 2002-3 bought with the left-overs from dotcoms (trying to find safety!). Been taking the divi for years, instead of using the bank, so luckily I've now got some decent capital appreciation as well. Be good after all this time if it turns into a growth stock. The long term chart since 2000 ish says its changed its nature, athough it was doing much better share price wise in 1997 ! | yump
19/1/2012 15:28 | Big deal, I don't hold shares for dividends, what I want is capital appreciation, if the dividend means so much you should be loading up big time! | bookbroker
16/1/2012 18:26 | Bit of life in the old dog still (meant in a nice way). Looking forward to my dividend so can have a good laugh at the bank interest rate... | yump

04/1/2012 23:22 | William Sinclair Profits growth 04/01/2012 | l2user
04/1/2012 08:43 | Have bought in recently. Final results out this morning bang in line with market profit forecasts and a bit ahead on dividend. I like the conservative balance sheet, growth prospects from underlying increases in the market all supported by a decent dividend yield. | 18bt
14/11/2011 13:55 | I think they are building up a very interesting position in the market - using recycled stuff to make environmentally friendly peat has got to have some very good long term mileage in it, even if you've got no interest in gardening ! | yump
14/11/2011 12:44 | Slater Investments buying here....I'm attempting to track the rest of their holdings on the following thread for all PI's mutual benefit:) | praipus
22/7/2011 12:09 | That's a fair chunk of money for buys today... | yump
20/7/2011 19:50 | It may however be that the recent removal of the planning permission as mentioned below (Salford council) has had some effect as it appears to be a 'landmark' case, prompted by environmentalists, particularly as its in a green belt. SNCL don't appear to be that bothered and make mention that they can get peat from other sources or import it from Ireland. The positive side of this is that gradual removal of peat bog harvesting will: (a) push up the price of peat and since there are a limited number of suppliers, the price rises will presumably be passed on. (b) make the manufacture and supply of peat substitutes increasingly important. Obviously any legislation passed to gradually make the use of natural peat difficult for final users, will actually help SNCL. | yump
17/7/2011 17:29 | I think you'll find that the share price rise in October last up to the current level was related to the trading update. The rise above 200p was related to the interims. Neither was built on anything to do with the Bolton Fell compensation, 9mln of which is sitting on the balance sheet and has not been posted to the p&l account (which would inflate profit figures artificially). Without even taking the 9mln into account the company is not highly rated, considering its growth and being at the forefront of peat-substitute technology. If the announcement re Bolton Fell has shaken out some holders, I'm afraid its for entirely the wrong reasons. The company is growing nicely by itself. | yump
17/7/2011 09:28 | Falling knife....recognition that Gov does not have money for SNCL shareholders | farmingrgp
04/7/2011 08:49 | I don't see that announcement last week as being a problem at all in terms of SNCL's value. As the estimates say, the company is on quite a modest p/e, while forecast to grow well in its own right, with the bonus that if you add in the £9mln on the balance sheet to value the business, you end up way higher. | yump
08/6/2011 09:18 | Quite exciting ! Mind you, I feel a bit sad, getting kicks from a horticulture share ;-) Its all investment though. The dividend rises are probably very attractive to funds ? | yump
08/6/2011 07:09 | Early rise this morning,Something going on? | balcony
07/6/2011 17:33 | This looks promising again... | yump
01/6/2011 21:51 | Problem is I'm another year older though ;-) Looks like we have us a growth stock ? I can't say I was expecting it a year or so ago, thought it was just recovering, but they seem to be getting plenty of traction. | yump
01/6/2011 07:25 | Yump-The chart you posted in june last year showing the 1st june 06 now mirrors todays breach of £2 | balcony
21/4/2011 16:30 | Hi Jonut good to hear sales are going well although i feel that todays reversal in the share price is more to do with the delays over payment from Natural england. I do know you are into the pharma stocks FUM has a good rise today (forgive the pun)after this news do you think it's now all in the price? 3800 | 3800
21/4/2011 12:24 | JA Bowers compost bags are going well in Sainsbury's. | jonut
02/2/2011 09:59 | Oh ! Where do Sainsbury's sell compost then - is it that I just don't live near one that does ? | yump
31/1/2011 14:59 | Sainsbury's sold Homebase in 2000. Should be positive for the share price all the same. | jonut |
