Tyrel. Dunno where you got this short info but I tend to ignore that sort stuff anyway unless it's a small cap share. I think you've missed the boat as to getting back in. These are no longer the value they were 2 - 3 years ago sub 300, but still a hold for those still in like myself. I'm hoping WMH will hit £5 before this year's out but I'd be tempted to sell then. A lot depends on whether the market eventually plunges, and so far the 'Sell In May' brigade have called it wrong.

Bend1pa - yeah there's a bit of an echo in here!

I'm a novice to investing in general but I got in here at 376 because I was looking for a share that was likely to get promoted to FTSE. Couldn't believe my luck when it did soon after.

I was up to about 425 when I saw the Dexia Short RNS. This worried me a bit so I set a stop loss at 416.

Well b*gger me, it dropped for a millisecond to 410 one day, took out my stop loss and then went straight back up again more or less to 450!

Would like to get back in if possible.

The Dexia short hasn't worked out surely or are they waiting for FTSE to drop?

Surprising how quiet it has been here considering a couple of significant transactions have taken place. Last week The CEO, Ralph Topping sold 400,000 shares at 452p leaving him with 178,772 shares. The Capital Group Inc, a large American financial enterprise raised its stake to over 12%. They are the largest shareholder.

'Doubts over bookmakers' cash cow'

...Fixed-odd betting terminals – where punters can play electronic versions of games such as roulette at up to £100 per spin – have grown to account for about half of the bulging retail earnings at William Hill, Ladbrokes and Paddy Power in a little more than 10 years.

....there is a growing campaign – which contains the unlikely mix of the Daily Mail and 40 mainly Labour and Lib Dem MPs – that wants to see Fixed-odd betting terminals curtailed, either with an outright ban or a vastly reduced stake limit.

A stake limit of £2 – rather than £100 – would damage the industry.

"I can't imagine how negative that would be for machine take," says Ivor Jones, an analyst at Numis. "It would make some shops unprofitable and they would shut."

Nope, we were in today according to the Telegraph :-)

William Hill gallops into FTSE 100

The bookmaker rose into the index following the suspension of Xstrata's shares.

While the closure of almost all western European stock markets for May Day ensured it was an unremarkable session for many dealers in London, it nevertheless held special significance for William Hill.

The bookmaker's shares galloped into the FTSE 100 today, marking the group's return to the main board after more than seven years spent outside the top flight.

William Hill, which dropped out of the blue-chip index to the FTSE 250 in December 2005 after securing promotion in April the previous year, did not have to wait for FTSE Group's next quarterly review in June to win a place the FTSE 100.

Instead, the group's entry into the premier index was fast-tracked by the merger of Glencore and Xstrata, with shares in the latter suspended from trading today ahead of the official completion of the deal.

The bookmaker's share price has surged more than 60pc over the past year, taking its market capitalisation to £3.7bn and paving the way for its promotion.

William Hill's acquisition of Sportingbet's Australian operations and move to take full control of its online operations have been hailed as transformational by some analysts in the Square Mile, and have spurred demand for its shares, which today dipped 2.4 to 423.6p.

Traders said index tracker funds would have already bought into William Hill well in advance of the group's promotion to the benchmark index, while the shares were further buoyed by encouraging first-quarter results last month. Indeed, they reached their highest level since October 2007 on Friday.
