horneblower: I understand where you're coming from but some things work on a "grand scale" too. Think of a hollywood movie. MILLIONS watch the same movie and get a great deal out of it... Or a youtube education video on how to fix the bonnet of your car.

Distant Learning covers both areas: MASSIVE lessons and MICRO lessons - it works both ways..

Mass ETON and Individual little peter.

rampy: Exactly - Via WEY the entire UK can get an ETON education. I have seen the price some of these ex-eton form masters earn in other private schools. WEY could afford it "IF" we got enough pupils. We literally could give everyone in UK an Eton education

Even better is the possibility that the best English teacher in the country taking a class of 1.
Taking a class of 30 is always going to be a massive compromise.
Individual tuition designed and tailored to you and you alone is what on-line education should be about.
I'm not sure if this is what Wey does but I shall take a position anyway. I like the chart.

The comment that stayed with me from the presentation was imagine the best English teacher in the country taking a class of 30. Using Wey he could be teaching 50,000. Now that is what I call disruptive technology.

Article from women's section of Daily Mail from 2015 which mentions Interhigh, Net-school and Briteschool, as well as saying there are 5 such online schools.

I guess size of Interhigh is the dominant factor for Wey?

At the meeting there was a question about competition. I think the gist of the answer was apart from the USA, there were not many examples of established online schools with the years of operation, experience and accreditations as Interhigh. Of course, now with the financial backing of Wey Education, additional initiatives such as Infinity, WeyEcademy and Quoralexis will beef up the offering and first mover advantage.

I did come across this online school however which seems to be a smaller version of Interhigh but running only since 2013, called Net-School:

There seems to be no mention of enrolled pupil numbers in total but does boast of no more than 8 per class so perhaps that tells a story.

Looks like the kind of operation that Wey could snap up in its quest for critical mass? What thoughts have you, Netcurtains?

Generic discussion here but publicity is publicity and it is on a relevant website:

razoblade is right though. The internet allows companies - with the right reviews and image, to go from just a handful of "customers" to MILLIONS.... Just imagine, one day, it could easily be this September (or any month ) when "fashion" will dictate: "LETS TRY AN ON-LINE EDUCATION THIS TERM"...

BAM - ONE MILLION PUPILS!!!

That is how fast it can go. One minute you're Mrs May sitting with a massive MULTI-MILLION LEAD the next minute Mr Corbyn has taken the lot! That is how fast things can move.

A rising tide lifts all boats... I would have preferred a blairite but once the flood gates are open everything is swept away.

Wey Education can go from a penny share to a multi-pound share over night and it would still make perfect sense because there are millions of customers out there and currently we just have a couple of grand.

Someone soon will turn the switch on.

Seabornlegend, select gathering max 20-25 I would say. There was at least one guy from one of the existing institutions there from what I heard. On the company side, the Daniels (husband and wife founders of Interhigh in 2005), the chairman David Massie, a couple of the head teachers responsible for the education side of things. What stood out was the experience, enthusiasm and quality on show.Between the Daniels and Mr Massie, I think the latter said they hold some 33% of the company. There are also a couple of big holdings by institutions. Miton was hailed as a top notch investor.
