"I can see the roll out of fever screening equipment at airport entrance, check in, and boarding."

That is a lot of fever screening equipment.

In terms of this - gate checks are being advised due to the onset of symptoms between check in and boarding.

However from ongoing discussions - I can see the roll out of fever screening equipment at airport entrance, check in, and boarding. Possibly different formats and styles of checks - but all 3 are deemed as being the initial though of requirement.

Also, there may be different response remits depending on location - eg. entrance and check in airport responsibility - boarding gates airline/GH responsibility?

There is going to be huge investment thrown into this, because the industry is Literally on its knees right now with restrictions on international movement

Not to mention the old boys network That a knighted ex-cabinet Tory has... or is that too cynical? 😉

Post from lse from an aviation professional:

tldr; common industry practice is to trial a solution then if successful it becomes the standard and is rolled out globally. Let that sink in.

RE: RNS-RToday 10:52

Just to follow on from my previous post to hopefully give a bit of an insight into how this could materialise for anyone not within the industry,

In 2013 a hygiene issue was identified with the Industry standard test and swab kits that were used going through security stop and scan. A third party supplier was then recruited to develop what is basically a 2x1cm Velcro piece of material that goes on top of the swabbing magnet, and is able to be consistently used for something like 50,000 swabs before it needs to be replaced, without absorbing bacteria from a surface - this was trialled at the UK airport where I was working at the time, and has since been rolled out across the globe - to every ICAO recognised airport.

No idea about the values or sizes of the contract - but it’s an example of what power trialling has in this sector, with most large airport shareholders connected in some shape or form, the sharing of best practice is widespread!

Obviously in this respect there will be other market operators providing this type of kit and business solution, however the fact that they have their feet in the door with 3 very impressive aviation outfits, bodes extremely well in my opinion."

There are some placing shares etc that are always sold down during a rise holding back the price. They should clear if demand is great enough.A successful trial generally leads to business. They aren't going to decide they don't need this equipment so would be a bit of a shock if they decided to go with someone else! If WSG can get into various industries and geographies puts them in a real sweet spot. I'm very optimistic.

If they announce the contract for 200 airports - this should multi-bag.

I'm rather surprised this has not stayed higher in response to today's very positive RNS, plenty of news still in the pipeline as the world progressively and tentatively releases lockdown. No airport of any size should be without temperature screening equipment.

Westminster conducts trial of fever screening solution at Stockholm airport
The company said feedback from the first live trial was “extremely positive” with all passengers screened and its partners will continue to use the solution to screen more flights over the coming weeks

Westminster Group PLC - Westminster conducts trial of fever screening solution at Stockholm airport
Westminster Group PLC (LON:WSG) said it has successfully conducted a trial of its fever screening solution at the Stockholm Arlanda airport in Sweden in association with Menzies Aviation and their client, Air France.

The company said Menzies will continue to use its solution to conduct operational trials with Air France and other clients’ flights over the coming weeks to “fine tune” the delivery of the screening.

Westminster noted that feedback from the first live trial was “extremely positive” with all passengers screened.

"Working with Menzies Aviation on the trial has been excellent. We have worked hard in order to supply them with the correct solution for their fever screening requirements that is fit for purpose and has the least impact on an already complex procedure, and within the required time frame. I need to thank all those involved at Menzies Aviation both in the UK and their team in Sweden for their efforts”, Westminster Group’s general manager, Hamish Russell said in a statement.

"Westminster's fever screening solutions have been supplied to numerous industry sectors to detect, mitigate and defeat the spread of [coronavirus]. Westminster continues to add to its fever screening offering ensuring products are adaptable, cost-effective and can be implemented and upgraded into existing processes or technology", he added.

Shares in the company jumped 6.4% higher to 11.2p in early trading on Wednesday

If a financial journalist says wsg have done a trial at an airport with minimal passengers they should be sacked. It is not news, and definitely not a rns.

The only reason would be to generate some publicity eg.in the financial press for a start. Anything virus related gives a journalist a new angle for an article after that for mainstream press.

Again something that doesn’t need to be RNS’d. It’s a trial, great come back when there is a sale.

This possible contract - could be massive if trials all go well. it could end up being 200 orders. (At more than 200 airport locations across 6 continents)

Igoe- read again, there is NO contract. Testing trials is a favoured Wsg mo, but usually unable to monetise.
Dreadful.

"Utilising the Westminster fever screening solution Menzies Aviation will continue to conduct operational trials with Air France and other clients flights’ over the coming weeks in order to fine tune an effective delivery to this added layer of safety and security. Feedback from the first live trial was extremely positive with all passengers screened as they presented their boarding passes at the departure gate. The trial at Stockholm Arlanda Airport is Westminster’s first trial at a Scandinavian airport as it looks to widen its client database and airport presence."

My only concern is their ability to scale-up. It's not as easy as you might think. If they can manage this ramp-up in demand then a 10k investment today will probably give you enough to retire on in 10 years.

......but....we all know that when that 10k becomes 20k next week you'll cash-in. :-)

Not just airports - we could be talking about sports stadiums and entrances to shopping centres - anywhere where you can get mass gatherings.

A scanner at every single departure gate in every single airport, could well become the new norm. The numbers are mind blowing.

What is interesting about this is that they are talking about having them at individual boarding gates. Some airports have hundreds of gates. Scale there is massive.
