10/10/2006 15:44 | I think 190p is fair value too. | handycam
10/10/2006 15:11 | Around 73% of the equity is held by Directors, declared holdings of institutions and large declared private investors (some of whom have an interesting track record)... A deal would require Director support but at the right price and with the right employment guarantees this is perfectly possible imho... Timing could be perfect this time around...say at 190p or so... | scotswhaehae
10/10/2006 12:57 | I know that the directors have a large stake in this company, which along with institutional holdings may mean that there isn't a large free float of shares, but we never seem to get enough volume to support the bid theory. Nevertheless nice to see some recovery as I am in at 164p. | gritter
10/10/2006 10:45 | Certainly looks promising, scots. | njp
10/10/2006 10:31 | Interesting times ? | scotswhaehae
09/10/2006 18:35 | Remember WHI appointed Rothschilds in early August... Bigish institutional holdings from around 100p and some big private holdings including City 'players'... I'm begining to think we have a major bid story on our hands after all! | scotswhaehae
06/10/2006 21:12 | According to the FT, Shore Capital are supposed to be eyeing up WHI | rohkap
05/10/2006 12:34 | I would expect one more slight dip to 120p before end of month and provided the indices aren't crashing then this should start to make some significant gains...imo. If ftse etc falling however, whi support at 120p will inevitably fail also imo. Watching closely over the next few weeks. :-) | maximoney1
27/9/2006 16:15 | We seem to have a sizeable buyer ... Doubt its a bid but u never know! More like....very cheap on fundamentals! Due a good run up imho! Good luck all! | scotswhaehae
07/9/2006 15:44 | From todays Daily Mail '' rumours of a bid for broker WH Ireland refuse to lie down''. Lets hope so as the share price performance over the past 5 months has been dire. | fozzie
04/9/2006 17:45 | Hey, Scots, Do we have mirror portfolios or what? Yours ever, | handycam
31/8/2006 15:43 | I see my little top up moved the price!! LOL Stormy | onlyonestorm
31/8/2006 13:19 | lol... certainly a problem for AEN ! but not for WHI ! don't underestimate the positive ZRL deal either...WHI has warrants there too! | scotswhaehae
31/8/2006 13:08 | Rivaldo, seeing as MV of all warrants at Nov 05 was £2.9mm (per the accounts), maybe this wont affect WHI as much as you think. | rohkap
31/8/2006 12:35 | Zambezi resources , a WHI client, with a very useful placing with a strategic partner today... Nice move off the bottom for WHI too... Sounds like Rivaldo missed it...lol...perhaps he should try WHT where he isn't too late...or bite the bullet and pay higher for WHI as well! | scotswhaehae
31/8/2006 08:29 | Hi guys. Still follow this thread out of interest. WHI's holding of warrants in AEN from my records was probably worth around £4m at higher prices, but AEN is going down the toilet and those warrants are now worth only £1m or so and falling fast. This was a big chunk of the back-up valuation for WHI in my eyes given I haven't seen them earn a large IPO commission for some time now. | rivaldo
24/8/2006 09:37 | Oxman Now down to ask 121. I bet the broker would take less ...say 119 would put them on a PE of 6.1 on the 18 eps forecast by Equity Development. OK say they are spending some money on developing their business and that impacted on the interims, but from what I have seen they usually underestate and err on the side of caution in their forward statements. Rather a shrewd taciturn lot that run this company. The momentum is not here now so reckon I will wait for it to come off a another couple of points but even at this level looks dirt cheap. I all ready have a largish holding for me so am happy to wait but wouldnt be surprised if it suddenly took off again. Richard | a3477681
22/8/2006 22:49 | so people should we be buying more down here - can't make my mind up myself? | its the oxman
21/8/2006 12:22 | Short comment in the Sunday Times about Chinese Restaurant chain raising £600k through AIM listing via WH Ireland | rohkap
17/8/2006 16:38 | feels decidedly unloved at the moment - increasingly tempted to top up with general market picking up though. | its the oxman
04/8/2006 15:20 | JW Thanks for that. For those not registered Equity Development go for basic EPS of 18p, headline EPS of 13.2, not sure what the difference relates to though. They estimate the additional costs for moving office, systems upgrades and recruitment as being 0.5m, which would add 20% to the profits and EPS figure. The company is still undervalued compared to its peers and the appointment of new brokers, previously done in-house, could indicate corporate activity. Made me feel more positive at least. | daz
04/8/2006 08:44 | equity development out with report on hml makes interesting reading. equitydevelopment.co | johnwalton
01/8/2006 10:27 | Yes, operating profits have fallen over 15%, which isn't a great advert for the expansion of the business. The results do mention investment in systems and recruitment as part of a 3 year plan plus further investment in the refurbishment of the Manchester office in the 2nd half. While you would expect trading profits to be a regular occurence for a stockbroker, the degree of dependence on the windfall profit in these results won't encourage buying. | daz
01/8/2006 09:59 | Poor results I'm afraid. Strip out the LSE windfall and profits have taken a hammering. That said, a bid can't be discounted- I'm sure there are folk out there who think they could sweat WHI's business better than WHI appears able. | wiganer
01/8/2006 09:54 | Interesting appointment of Rothschilds... Do they sniff a(nother) bid approach? | scotswhaehae |
