03/3/2022 07:19 | Sizeable share buybacks occurring - yesterday's of £226,000 at 1222p means almost £319,000's worth in two days: | rivaldo
02/3/2022 07:27 | Great to see buybacks starting again, and with a sizeable £92,700 buy at 1236p - well above the current 1220p offer price: | rivaldo
01/3/2022 10:45 | Good RNS. Solid perf. in difficult market in '21 imo. "Shire" increasing in value, again. | smithie6
01/3/2022 10:02 | Pleased with performance from Shire, this business is likely worth £20 to £25m with our share 80% and has good prospects. The restaurants/cafes are now getting back to normal so hopefully by interim results time we should see if Indulgence has potential,as these areas are its main customers. We are probably undervalued but until we find a use for the cash & a turn round at Indulgence this discount will probably remain.Feel more confident holding after this update. | 1tx
01/3/2022 09:52 | I don’t think they are being at all clear in what they are stating which is uncharacteristic. Growth can require additional cash. It’s a minor point anyway - I was just curious | zoolook
01/3/2022 09:31 | VLE are stating that Shire's positive trading is cash-positive, but offset by the other factors - "offset" being the key word! | rivaldo
01/3/2022 09:10 | Yes that’s what I’m referencing but it doesn’t explain how positive trading at Shire is a drain on cash. It’s obvious how capex and trading losses at Indulgence drain cash. | zoolook
01/3/2022 08:23 | The cash pile movement is specifically addressed in the RNS: "the positive trading in Shire, offset by central costs, capital expenditure in new plant and the trading losses at Indulgence." | rivaldo
01/3/2022 08:07 | How does positive trading reduce cash? Increase in inventory? Recruitment costs? | zoolook
01/3/2022 07:30 | The trading update is out, and imo it's surprisingly good as regards Shire given all the supply chain challenges we know about (and which are listed today). Shire's revenues are up 13% to £30.6m, and PBT is up a whopping 18% to £2.14m. This is now a considerable and proven business. Indulgence saw revenues up a decent 21%, but it's still making a £1m loss. With the economy returning to normal hopefully VLE's investment will start to pay off this year. The cash pile is at £21.9m against the £29m m/cap, with £13.53 of net assets per share. JL says the the environment for acqiring is improving and he's loking for "food manufacturing" companies. The need for patience I noted in my thread header post remains..... | rivaldo
25/2/2022 08:09 | I guess (and we can only guess) that things are currently tough for Shire/Indulgence zangdook. Just depends what's in contracts, and how quickly prices can be raised to maintain margins. Look at FIF results a couple of days ago, raw materials, energy, transport, warehouse, staff costs all rising. Wouldn't surprise me if Shire struggling to make any profit at all. Things should normalise in due course and like a lot of companies, future contracts will be a bit more inflation proof (if not already). I'm praying for some rubbish results. | eezymunny
25/2/2022 08:03 | I tend to leave this on the back-burner and only occasionally check the price. Is something happening here but I don't know what it is? Where does this staircase lead to? | zangdook
08/2/2022 14:56 | Investing is really not for you, if you rely on Advfn for any financial data. | spob
08/2/2022 12:16 | Really just thought it was one side of switch/transfer at mid price. Not really expecting any fireworks at next update though🤞 | samenic
08/2/2022 11:14 | A sizeable £120,000 trade reported at 1200p this morning - perhaps a buy soaking up small recent sells at below that level over the last few weeks. Hopefully the year end update will be out in just over a month. 9degrees, contact support@advfn.com - it's usually worked for me in the past if I have a query re updating fundamentals. | rivaldo
06/2/2022 10:10 | why dont advfn update the financials here they are stuck at 2018! | 9degrees
27/1/2022 22:31 | Great news for Volvere out from Tesco. Just use Google search to find all the info. ;-))) ------ To see some decent share analysis including calculations & conclusions/expectat ;-) | smithie6
10/12/2021 14:25 | Hi Zoo, Thanks for your comment - seems like I needed to be on the call to answer some of my disappointments!! I'm no-where near thinking of selling - but would be nice to have something to be excited about. | jimmywilson612
10/12/2021 12:57 | They’ve always been cautious and excitement is something that VLE rarely offers!. Regarding shareholder engagement tyere was a shareholders Q&A in June (see my post 3619) and given only 6 or so shareholders logged I’d say there is an equal lack of Board engagement by PI’s. At that Q&A Jonathan Lander said that one of the prospects they’d made an offer on was an industrials business so they aren’t just looking at Food. In general I’m not wild about Food manufacturing as it is low margin and the supermarkets have you by the nuts BUT in the current climate staples are less prone to covid related problems than most. | zoolook
10/12/2021 12:33 | The worry I have is the VLE is turning into more of a lifestyle business for the landers. - No new Acquisitions even though capital in the bank - Preference for food (why not look at other sectors?) - Lack of any shareholder engagement. Nothing to get excited about at the moment. | jimmywilson612
06/12/2021 12:20 | It's quiet in here | wild bill
25/11/2021 08:52 | Further to the news of Aldi's expansion, this from todays Daily Mail (and once again a quick Google of Shire Foods and Lidl will confirm for anyone who's not a long-termer here): "Lidl plans 1,100 stores across Britain by 2025 after boosting staff pay and raking in billions of pounds in sales during the pandemic Lidl has updated its store growth plans to 1,100 across the country by 2025 German-based discount supermarket still plans to have 1,000 stores by 2023 Lidl's sales jumped 12% to £7.7bn in the year to the end of February, figures show Rival discount supermarket Aldi also has plans to boost its store numbers By Jane Denton For Thisismoney Published: 09:32, 24 November 2021 "Bosses at the German-based discount supermarket said they expect to reach their target of having 1,000 stores by 2023, and set a new target for 1,100 sites by 2025." "The German grocer currently has over 880 stores across the country, having already opened 55 new outlets since the start of this year. In total, the grocer will open 240 new supermarkets." | rivaldo
22/11/2021 10:05 | It was suggested you google their long-standing relationship with Aldi. Rivaldo even gave you the keywords to google FFS. It would haven taken 5 seconds to type - much faster than your posts doubling down on your tripe. If in a hole stop digging. | zoolook
22/11/2021 09:33 | Smithie6 You've just written a long post (3612) but you haven't explained for newcomers what exactly you're complaining about. Where do you get off expecting readers to go back and do some research before your post can be understood? | zangdook |
