Hard to envisage companies giving out anything useful that isn't in the public domain.

In Laymen terms hopefully we aren't going to get anything nasty, any shortcomings are covered by a diversified portfolio of businesses...

Anyway folks shouldn't read in bulletin board gossip, they should contact the company if they have any concerns, I'm in contact with various companies im involved in..

You've posted elsewhere:"Been intouch with the VLX management. Alot of folks panicking over destocking issues that some companies have announced like XPP, have recently experienced, and now folks are panicking that it could happen to VLX. Instead of panicking all they have to do is get intouch with the company and will confirm in a carefully worded email they aren't any issues".Can you post up their actual response, thanks.

That's what I thought, they've repeated what they said at H1. So what did you mean when you said the issue isn't destocking?.

It wasn't worded like that.

The gist of it was, like they announced in their last statement they have the diversification of customsers to navigate through it..

Record EV sales in February, so more demand for EV equipment will be needed now, I suppose

IgoeSo they commented that the share price action has nothing to do with customer destocking and business performance!. Is that the gist of their response to you?.

In short, top-up here as much as you dare!

And keep some cash spare in case it dips lower.

ali - Downing was an investment trust that was making a big loss. So it decided to stop. It had a bunch of VLX shares in it, so they have to sell them.

People here are trying to guesstimate how many they have sold and how many are left to sell.

If they have sold all, then we can be due a nice bounce.

If they have more to sell, then that's annoying!

I think once they have finished selling, that 317p price will be back...

My view is that was a price Volex likes to gravitate to!

And then hopefully break higher, as Downing have stopped their (very annoying) selling.

Just been intouch with the company, it doesn't seem destocking is the issue here. Because of company diversification they can manage any shorterm impact.

Next update next Month...

GargoyleThanks for that, yep minimal selling during Feb from DSM (circa 46k to 50k which would hardly move the dial).

gdjs dsm is not one of my holdings so no reason to recognise it- and there is unfortunately a frequent tendency to use abreviations by posters who assume all readers are familiar which is not the case

Downing Strategic Microcap investment trust. Look up the ticker, not too hard. Volex has been their largest position for some time, but they are winding down the trust.

Downing Street management.

Someone possibly selling more shares into the market than buyers pushing the price down.

According to today's RNS from DSM, as at 29 Feb, they had total assets of £30.44m, of which 8.35% was VLX (i.e. £2.5m worth - or just under 900k shares), so only a small holding left. As at 31 January, they had just under £3m worth of VLX, although the share price then was 317-ish, so around 940k shares. If my reading is correct, then they may not have been that much of a seller during February - 50k shares or so?

Tend to agree it could still be DSM offloading, won't know for certain. The GM on 28th approved the closure of the fund. Difficult to know what their holdings were or still are as they went below the 3% limit ages ago (think 2021).

This has been a nasty and slightly unexpected dip but volume has normalised since midweek and the share price is coming off the bottom this afternoon. (Hope it's just not shorters taking their profit.) Anyway, I've risked a top-up to restore my weighting.
Always the risk of a double dip so kept some powder dry. No obvious long term adverse trend even if destocking knocks this half year so assume it's a one-off effect.

Shouldn't there be a Holdings RNS with regards to the seller and buyer as its been going on for a number of days?

Its definitely downing offloading as they are closing their small cap fund. They had the destocking issue with Ev at the back end of 2023,but said its only short term issue, so hopefully thats cleared now. But the rise in demand for data centers cables more than covered Ev destocking anyway last year. Definitely a opportunity to add if your have spare funds..

This is either the buy of the year at 2.77 or the messaging on a destocking/slowdown in EV/consumer electrical is going to result in a warning. Question is whether industrial/data centres/medical can continue to pick up the slack. What do we all think? I must admit that i am averaging down at these levels. Long term this is a high quality hold.

Since the high two weeks ago there has been trading volume of around 5.5 mln shares. Roughly 3 mln higher than what is typical over a fortnite.

Price firming towards the end of the day - Could the Downing holding be nearly cleared? That is if most of the volume is from the Downing liquidation?
If so there might be a bounce tomorrow.
By my calculations e&oe Downing held about 940,shares on 31st January,
