Director of VLX bought £260k shares in VLX, after the end of April, where the reporting period was complete, then sent a business update saying that results were above expectations...He paid £2.60p. Looks simply like the results will be outstanding.

She's revving up nicely, still oversold. Well the stoch reflects oversold, and RSI 14 just coming out. The next upwards EMA is the 34 and that's £26, I'd expect it to move towards that pretty quickly.

First thing I've taken advantatge on on this dip is #VLX , results on the 23'rd and as per the update from 20/04 revenue is expected up by 27%, year on year growth is great, minimal impact fromcurrent climate, and the next EMA target is 10% at £2.50p. Yep, good move by Fed.

Volex have low debt. Only equivalent to about 6 months of net income, so higher interest doesn’t affect them directly; just if demand falls off.

Short-term pain from the US Fed raising interest rates by 0.75%. Has to be done to bring inflation under control. Once inflation peaks and starts to fall, good companies like VLX will fly.

Good to top-up but no one knows the bottom for any of these shares.

All IMHO.

Bulls... you really think publishing the results of a past FY, i.e. data from the past, will save you?

It's what happens in the next 24 months that matters.

You are buying or holding a low-margin,low FCF and highly cyclical business into the biggest recession since 100y.

Congratulations bulls.

@Valhamos, Ah, ok. I didn’t realise there was so much US$ business, so then exchange rate is less important.

The strong dollar does have an affect, though, as buying off Volex gets more expensive for most countries- I doubt most customers trade primarily in dollars.

So, smaller effect.
The main point was that strong dollar doesn’t help; it hinders.

@gdjs100, yes, agree that it converts back. It’s just if people look at results in dollars, which is how they’re delivered. I’m not saying it’s actually bad; just might get some shareholders spooked.

"Most sales happen in UK." Actually most sales are in US dollars, and most raw material purchases are in US dollars as well, so forex exposure within the business is quite low.

But then you convert the resulting lower cents per share back to sterling pence per share, which translates to a higher amount on the lower FX rate, negating your point. The result is that ANY sale in USD will boost underlying pence per share, even if the majority of earnings are in sterling. Yes - less dollar earnings - but it converts back to more pounds.

Read the above.

£100 million is still £100 million in GBP.
However, in dollars it’s gone down by $11.6 million. Investors prefer higher earnings; not lower.

It’s the eternal problem of strong currencies.

The dollar is stronger, why would they be disappointed 🙄

I think it’s probably neither here nor there reallu.

Most sales happen in UK. It’s first £100 million in sales was worth $1.336 million, but now will only be $1.21 million. Less :(

However, share price is pence anyhow, so we convert back at favourable rates.

I think anyone looking in dollars will be disappointed. That’s what they report in, so expect some disappointment.

The exchange rate should be very favourable for VLX as the rate is at 1.21 now compared to 1.33 6 months ago...
