30/7/2020 08:45 | It's a bit odd, mixing up periods. They quoted 4 months to May 2020, which includes February and March from the prior year and on which they have already reported, in the previous statement. That was 4% ahead. They now say flat on the three months to June - so excluding Feb and March, but including April and May. I guess you would have to say that May and/or June were somewhat behind either February or March or the average for both. All a bit strange. Taken at face value, flat for the 3 months of the new period is fine. All else OK - medical stuff will surge with the backlog when hospitals re-open. | imastu pidgitaswell
30/7/2020 07:16 | Well done Volex. Steady as we go . Should see a move up in share price now. | wapper
29/7/2020 10:51 | They said this in the year announcement: "Unaudited revenue for the four months ended May 2020 was $126.2 million, 4% ahead of the same period a year earlier. During this period, the business has performed ahead of expectations, although we are now seeing areas of weakness primarily in the medical equipment installation sector, as hospitals around the world remain closed for non-critical medical procedures. In our electric vehicle business, after weakness in March and April due to customer factory closures, we are starting to see a recovery. Our consumer and data centre businesses continue to perform well." | imastu pidgitaswell

13/7/2020 10:04 | return on capital | valhamos
13/7/2020 09:57 | valhamos i agree- what do you mean by being in high 20's- are you referring to the eps or the p/e? | ali47fish
09/7/2020 16:49 | I didn't really understand that article - I think Beddard makes it all very complicated for no purpose (e.g. Volex has a TTM PE ranking of 105 and a MAX rank of 122 - what's that all about?!). You just need to know that Volex has increased its return on invested capital over the years and it is now in the high 20s (see the Volex annual results presentation). A company with high and increasing ROIC is always going to be worth investigating further. | valhamos

07/7/2020 11:03 | These will multi-bag then the EV market takes off. I'm happy to keep adding and hold for many years to come. Most vehicles made are going to be electric in 10 years etc. | igoe104

06/7/2020 22:11 | Brilliant - having decided to dip back in, cautiously and on a pullback, the CFO 'flogs' a 6 figure number - on Thursday last week, announcing it only today, shortly after I bought in. Really not very helpful... | imastu pidgitaswell
01/7/2020 10:50 | with all the good news i would have thought this will have accelerated - so what 's going on? | ali47fish
28/6/2020 18:55 | I listened to the AGM and slides, also read the Q&A. Very good performances by the two of them, and very open in answering all the questions - they gave a fair bit more nuance and detail than the summary written Q&A suggests. Still have the same views of a few posts ago on some of the specifics in the results, but I have always been very cautious about growth stocks, especially given the pandemic - that means I have missed out on a lot, but at least not lost. But it is clearly a very different company than it was when they came in as executive management, and it takes time to turn things around - they were not wrong when they indicated that previous management really did not understand their business and their markets; having held all throughout those desperate years, I know how bad it was - but the underlying basics kept me in, not to mention a lot of hope. The basic physics doesn't change - power, and in many ways nor does the manufacturing process management - but it's the ability to execute manufacturing well and take good strategic decisions on both the supplier side and the customer side that can go wrong, and did. I have a lot of admiration for what they have done in very difficult circumstances, from a very bad starting position. In many ways I wish they could have done that presentation a couple of months earlier - I get it now, and think they will be fine - but the share price has doubled from the lows. It is probably going to go further, and continue rising if they don't go wrong - but I still think I see even better value elsewhere at the moment. But quite prepared to say I could be very wrong. | imastu pidgitaswell

24/6/2020 09:39 | The Q&A from the InvestorMeetCompany presentation is now published on the IMC website. 19 questions with good answers. Worth reading. | jane deer
24/6/2020 07:57 | Don't forget they also make electric charging points for vehicles and that is forecast to boom. | bbluesky
23/6/2020 20:32 | Yes I think EV could be big. It sounds an interesting market but they are making only power cords - which can not be that complex to manufacture and is likely to be a very competitive market. I would imagine specifications for EV would be lower than for medical (where reliability is key). | jane deer
23/6/2020 11:35 | I get the impression - that VLX will be a big player in the EV market, in the future. these are a good long-term hold for me. | igoe104
23/6/2020 11:31 | i thought the presentation was excellent and augurs well for the future | ali47fish
23/6/2020 11:21 | It might be 'cos I was one minute late. Anyway your share price is doing well - enjoy... | imastu pidgitaswell |
