Good comprehensive write up and analysis of where VLX has got to and where it aims to get to over the next 3 years - EBIT of $60m should be achievable by then.

UK Analyst updates positively

Positive Full-Year Trading Update

Volex has announced a positive full-year trading update, with revenue and net debt ahead of our expectations and underlying operating profit within the range of market expectations.
We see this announcement as encouraging as it shows good progress towards the delivery of Volex's transformation plan, with clear signs that the return to revenue growth is now being achieved.
Accordingly, we make a small change to our FY14 forecasts, but keep our forecasts for FY15 unchanged, and retain our buy recommendation, with a target price of 295p.

To be fair, that's what you do in the short term in the face of collapsing revenue - which is what this management inherited, to get the sales. Ask Tesco...

Then once you're on the roster, you introduce price 'amendments' on the back of improved quality, range etc etc.

It's the right thing to do, but it does leave the question of what 'underlying' profitability is - the 2013/14 operating profit is irrelevant, it is no indicator of the future.

That's cos they have lowered their prices to be able to sell more

as a result of this

''In the short term, this has led to reduced gross margins and an impact on operating profit. As previously announced, underlying operating profits in the year ended March 2014 will be materially lower than prior year.
Net debt at 30 March 2014 was $33 million ''

The question is

How long will the short term be ? ie

When will prices go back up ?

Not going to go down well with customers that methinks

Oh well.

Bit surprised by the initial negativity in the share price, but I should have got used to it by now. I did expect some demand from buyers anticipating a recovery - China, 4G, new customers etc. Maybe tomorrow, eh?...

Back to sleep until the June results and some more soothing words about the outlook...

Good but not great - sacrificing margins for revenue. Sensible enough in the short term, but I had thought was exactly what they were trying to get away from...

And also margin improvement is more towards the second half of the next (now the current) financial year - jam tomorrow, again... But net debt is lower, and has almost certainly troughed, ergo from now any lingering banking covenant concerns have gone. Which is a relief.

Anyway, I liked a few sentences, including "In consequence, total revenues for the year ended 30 March 2014 were ahead of consensus market expectations."

I couldn't say - it is neither good, nor bad, just tedious. Flat really since December 2012 - neither going up nor down.

Numbers will be poor, it's all about the words.

Subject to the performance conditions, yes.

Doesn't say what those are, but the second one is base on total shareholder return, which includes share price gains and dividends (remember them?)

For me, if the execs do well out of it, it will be because they have managed the operating profit targets and made the share price gains - which is what incentives should do and that's fine by me. He didn't create the mess, it's a good chance to make a lot of money out of it, I hope he does it, 'cos that will be good for me too.

Meantime, still nothing happening...

Am I reading this RNS of 13 March correctly: giving shares away at just 25p ??

"...the price payable is 25p per Share..."

"......Following such awards, Christoph Eisenhardt will hold options over an aggregate of 1,401,704 Shares".

Does anyone have information as to the specifics of the options granted last month? Seems a bit vague to me in the RNS. I`ve seen plenty where the RNS states the exact conditions upon which the shares will be granted but this one doesn`t seem to provide that info as far as I can see. :)

And still being patient - several days of chunky (for VLX) trades dominating the buy column, but zero price movement.

A person could die of sheer boredom on this one...
