15/10/2013 11:22 | The cheap lightning cables are rubbish. I've tried a couple of copies and they don't work properly. There are copies available that do work and are cheaper than the Apple ones but they still command a high price. The cheaper ones don't last that long either. | ![]() greenroom78
15/10/2013 11:11 | Just wondering whether to buy a few of these but I am concerned about the viability of their cable business. Just bought some quite sophisticated cables on ebay eg 15 pin VGA connectors, HDMI connectors for less than £2 each. How on earth anyone can make these and supply them post paid to me I don't understand at all. They are probably made in China which means the postage must be more than £2 I would have thought, let alone the cable! What does this mean for the profits of companies like Volex which make these things (or more accurately, have them made in China)? It is true that Apple lightning cables for ipad4 cost £40, buy how long before someone copies them and sells for £2? | ![]() kibes

15/10/2013 08:44 | Very true - because of their abject failure, I got out when I could late on Friday, for some 25-30p less than the current price. As did wifey. Whereas if I had just done nothing...Anyway, nickel and dime stuff, five hundred quid (2 x £250) profit for doing very little, just go and spend it - don't think of it as profit to be reinvested. Now back to VLX and on a similar theme, the dividend - to reinvest or spend? Per the RNS today: Overall, 125 shareholders, with a combined holding of 34,221,826 Ordinary Shares (54.39% of the issued share capital of the Company as at the Record Date of 6 September 2013) elected to receive a final dividend in Ordinary Shares rather than cash That's quite a high percentage, who clearly see value here at current price (but then I suppose if you hold, you would...) But I still see it as encouraging, and of the other 46% (I am one of them), quite a number would consider buying in the market (ditto) which, combined with 116p scrip price, could act as a sort of floor. Ever optimistic... | ![]() imastu pidgitaswell

10/10/2013 15:09 | Even on a really good blue day this one continues to stagnate. I will give it until the half yearly results are out. | ![]() wanttowin
09/10/2013 16:10 | But not to be. Hovering at or slightly below the scrip price: "In relation to the dividend for the period 1 April 2012 to 31 March 2013 payable on 17 October 2013 (the "October 2013 Dividend"), the price of a new ordinary share in relation to the Scrip Dividend Scheme (the "Scrip Calculation Price") has been set at 115.95 pence" and may well do so until payment date, which is 17th October. If it does, I think mine will be reinvested, as 115-6 is a pretty good price. Be interesting to see if other holders do similar and if so whether it moves the price. Although I imagine 25% holder 'Nat' Rothschild won't - probably has bills to pay... | ![]() imastu pidgitaswell
08/10/2013 11:20 | In mortal danger of going up - despite a notable level of selling yesterday. Suspect some T-traders who jumped on board recently have just been cleared out (for no gain), but there is no volume (at all) showing. One day, Rodney (again...) | ![]() imastu pidgitaswell

03/10/2013 17:07 | With that tick up at the close chart would suggest start of the next leg up here. | ![]() bigbigdave
03/10/2013 08:56 | It's a volumeless mess at the moment - if I register a 2 share AT trade at the current buy price of 121, there will be a 6% rise on the board, back over 120, retest done and dusted, off to 140 etc etc... All very silly and what will be will be. | ![]() imastu pidgitaswell |
