GREENVILLE, N.C., March 14, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Starting tomorrow, Verizon Wireless customers in Greenville, N.C. can take advantage of the company's 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) network, the largest 4G LTE network in the country. Customers with 4G LTE devices will now be able to enjoy the best experience in wireless data usage when they stream video, share music and photos, download files, and surf the Web with speeds up to 10 times faster than Verizon's 3G network.

The following areas in Greenville will now have access to Verizon's high speed wireless network:

  • Greenville
  • Jamesville
  • Robersonville
  • Washington
  • Williamston

"Introducing our 4G LTE network to Greenville will enable residents, small businesses and local government to take advantage of the speed and connectivity offered by 4G LTE technology," said Jerry Fountain, Verizon Wireless president for the Carolinas and Tennessee region. "We will continue pushing the boundaries with our 4G LTE network in 2012 to bring our customers the products and services for which our network is known."

In North Carolina, Verizon Wireless currently offers its 4G LTE network in Asheville, Charlotte, Durham, Fayetteville, Greensboro, High Point, Lumberton, Raleigh, Wilmington and Winston-Salem. As of March 15, more than 200 million people in 203 markets across the United States will be able to take advantage of 4G LTE on a wide variety of devices, including the new DROID 4 by Motorola and the DROID RAZR MAXX by Motorola.  Details on available devices can be found at www.verizonwireless.com/4GLTE and information on plans and pricing is available at www.verizonwireless.com/plans.

In real-world, fully loaded network environments, 4G LTE customers should experience average data rates of 5 to 12 megabits per second (Mbps) on the downlink and 2 to 5 Mbps on the uplink. When customers travel outside of a 4G LTE coverage area, 4G LTE devices automatically connect to Verizon Wireless' 3G network, enabling customers to stay connected from coast to coast.
