Orchman
In current situation, BBs are waste of money. The company's cash position will decline faster and so is likely to lead to a placing.

I've seen this kind of reaction many times...
As per my assertions...Buy backs, NAV, Broker notes, TA, dividends etc wouldn't stop a share from crashing. What matters is company/sector, economic/political newsflow and the direction they are heading.
Didn't Greg sell all his holdings held via Baker Estates? That was your red flag.
I wouldn't touch this atm. I'm still negative on HBs. |
OrchmanTheir £130m share buyback will reduce the number of shares in issue thus increasing their earnings per share. The buyback started 12th Sept, about 4 weeks before the first profit warning. Not too certain how many shares they will buy by the close of the programme 14th May 2025, but if you assume the average purchase price is say £9 per share, then circa 14.5 million shares could have been purchased thus reducing their shares in issue by about 4%, which has the correspond beneficial impact of increasing eps by the same amount. Thus if it's PE rating is maintained (which following three profit warnings in 3 months is unlikely IMO) then the brokers target price should also increase by 4% (or whatever the number of shares have reduced by). |
Forgive my ignorance. This share buy back that VTY are doing. What is the positives for us shareholders of these buy backs taking place? What does it all mean? Thanks. |
My average is now 605p Maybe b/e today? |
Buy backs look like they have restarted today! |
I have never looked at this and was intrigued. However having read the gloomy notes put out on Tuesday by RBC,UBS,Jefferies and Investec have decided to go back to sleep. Surprised at the concern about the leverage situation. In theory should get up to speed so that on the 15 th I can move fast if appropriate but do not have the energy. |
"Cheap as chips"May look like it using PE, but house builders should be valued on NTAV, which means it's not the cheapest on a NTAV of 0.85x but there are "cheaper": BWY 0.82x and CRST 0.52x |
More of the same next week. Some large insider buying would send a positive message :) |
Pre tax profit of £250m puts VTY ON A PE of about 7. cheap as chips. |
Interesting article about vistry debt

Do you think there will be a buying point Cool ? |
I have checked with the my broking site and they agree with you. Why does stockopedia have an 8.44% figure? Mistake or do they think a divi will be paid? |
Ok but there is no dividend just to clarify one more time |
Quite possible Bigjock A risky share but that is often where the rewards are |
Volsung there is no dividendFor what it's worth I think the share price will drop below 500 on the January trading update and that will be the time to buy |
Very good cool :) I certainly have a clue now and wished I had listened If only I had shorted it at 1400 |
According to stocko the forecast dividend yield is 8.44% |
Some people just don't have a clue do they LOL |
Not got a clue |
I wouldn't touch this atm. There's too much uncertainty.

Agree, the FD but at least the CEO should have resigned by now. Regardless who's at fault or what other skeletons may exist, they were in charge. To start restoring confidence, the 1st step must be for them to resign.
I might take a punt < 500p on the hope that the CEO does resign and the company starts to re-build confidence. |
The divi is zero not 8 percent Surely a wind up ? |
Bought a few more at 559p Way oversold Good divi of around 8% Thitd profit warning delivered |
Yup apology I am happy to give Greg has really smashed this one to the floor and left more questions than answers |
Directors were buying a few million quid worth around £7. Wouldn't be surprised if they in buying again here at 5.50 |
