22/12/2003 11:41 | Just saw these after the Shares mag tip and am looking with interest. A contract announcement was indicated before Xmas but one hasn't come yet, or has it? Do people think one's likely this close to the holidays? Also, this may be completely daft, but many drinks companies are American and Alcatel is French - might there actually be some preference given to US companies, at least over French ones? Finally, what competitive advantage does Vianet have that redcare, Isochron etc. haven't, apart from the Alcatel deal? Why would Vianet win a deal over the others? | popgun
20/12/2003 17:42 | Dont forget 60 million shares at 6p will take a while to dissipate through the market. The shares mag tip will have moved alot of shares from the city profit makers to the final small time private investors. | currypasty

19/12/2003 15:55 | From The Scotsman - 13th December 2003 Vianet posts losses JOHN BOWKER VIANET, the Dunfermline-based technology minnow, said yesterday it was poised to increase sales from just £34,000 to £2.25 million over the next 18 months as it homes in on a string of new contracts. The company, which recently raised £4m from a lucrative share placing, said it was in talks with all the major players in its key vending machine market and was on track to break even by the summer of 2005. Chief executive Ian Orrock said the AIM-listed firm was riding a wave of business due to the decision by major firms such as Cadbury and Evian to upgrade their vending machines. He explained: "The major companies are realising that vending machines are the only sales method which does not involve a third party - its just you and the brand. They must be of the highest quality." Vianet makes technology which allows machine stock information to be controlled from a central location, making sure the customer is never left disappointed. It has signed recent deals with Red Bull and Compass-owned Selecta, but most crucially it forged a marketing alliance with Alcatel. Orrock said the deal would save vital cash as the firm would never have to open a European office. The update came as Vianet posted annual losses slightly higher at £1.9m, up from £1.8m a year earlier. It did not issue a dividend. Orrock said the losses were of no concern considering the number of deals in the pipeline and the group's successful shareplacing in October, which raised almost double the amount expected. He said: "We are making good progress. Our domestic market is the whole of Europe, which has seven million vending machines spread across the continent." I know it is old news but does give another view. stevie57 | stevie57

19/12/2003 07:28 | Morning all... great finish in the US last night NASDAQ up 34.85 (1.80%) to 1,956 Dow up 102.82 (1.10%) to 10,248 Just before the bell... Red Hat went crazy, after announcing better than expected results... at one point I watched it go up over 15%! Should give the UK a boost today. | exotic
18/12/2003 23:05 | game_boy - spot on, imho - Shares Mag said buy at 6.8p - don't think a single punter got on at less than 7.5p Think this could price could go on for a while yet. | fatoomch
18/12/2003 21:56 | Easy money for the MM's today. I hope that they have huge hangovers and make some mistakes tomorrow. Having said that I hope that this sort of rise is more sustainable than up 25% one day and down 15% the next (and vice versa). | gasferret
18/12/2003 21:31 | exotic ...IMO the lead mm knew they would get buys anyway cos of the Shares mag.....which I think they may have been instrumental in encouraging...and as they still had stock to sell from the placing they didn't want to entice any sellers from those that had bought from city equities and the like at 7.75p...so they just held it there all day and lapped up the cream !!! Fat cats....should be an FSA investigation !! | game_boy
18/12/2003 21:21 | I think MM tactics did everything to discourage volume today.. I mean what was the point of opening up 11.9% and then not budging a tick... all the way to the 4:30pm bell?? Normally you expect them to shake around to encourage more trading (buys AND sells)... since 'normally' they make more money with higher volume... but for some reason they seemed to be discouraging volume... and with mainly buys as expected today... that means they were discouraging buys... but why would they do that???? | exotic
18/12/2003 15:53 | check out royal doulton while your about it , its selling in 500k chunks to. | timbucktoo
18/12/2003 15:47 | May well be 3-4m traded by the end of the day...mostly buys...not a budge in the price since first thing this morning....mm fixing it to their advantage yet again !! | game_boy
18/12/2003 15:34 | Shares mag, brokers & mm's in cartel to get rid of final placing stock....I think I'll phone my mate at The Telegraph and see if he'll ask a few awkward questions round the city....FSA like that sort of thing.....this should be up much higher today on these volumes.... | game_boy
18/12/2003 15:25 | there goes another 212k | timbucktoo
18/12/2003 12:41 | city equities were getting their clients in at 7.75, so there is some way to go yet for a profit! | currypasty
18/12/2003 12:30 | Sorry to be a party pooper but imho the 65M shares placed at 6p are likely to drag on this for a while yet. Nice boost today from shares Mag, but that's now given people an exit at a profit of over 20%. | fatoomch
18/12/2003 12:01 | PS. Volume has now topped the 1 million mark!!! | exotic
18/12/2003 11:54 | Okay guys, I have to pop out for a few hours... see you all later ...oh and keep the board warm for me! | exotic |
