11/11/2017 10:08 | > An Englishman, Welshman, Scotsman and Irishman were captured by the Dervishes while fighting in Khartoum, Sudan. > > The leader of the captors says, > "We're going to line you up in front of a firing squad and shoot you all in turn. 10/11/2017 18:17 | Apad, you can either borrow shares on daily basis and pay a small daily charge for them or take a future date but take an intial hit from a wider spread. There is no limit for how long you can keep your short open as long as you are prepared to pay for borrowing them.BTW, NVDA smashed forecast again, another tech giant that keeps deliveringHave a good weekend guys | modform
10/11/2017 16:16 | Mod good luck I can see your logic there. IQE not one I follow mind you.ZOO board has attracted some wild animals. Not surprising following the meteoric rise. Annoying though. Results Monday but they don't interest me hugely. We already know they will show large revenue growth but limited profit - I'm more interested in getting a sense of outlook, confidence and DoT. | hydrus
10/11/2017 15:37 | "According to shorttracker.co.uk, at least 6.5% of IQE shares have been sold short (not including short positions of less than 0.5% of the company, as they aren't published by the FCA). A decent-sized short campaign is a red flag, for obvious reasons. I'm guessing that the funds involved are thinking about 1) the high valuation against conventional metrics, 2), the lack of free cash flow, and 3) the reliance on a small number of customers." | apad
10/11/2017 13:57 | You do make your own decisions, mod. You are betting against the crowd, as you know.. How long can you hold your short position? I have no experience or knowledge. Good luck, apad | apad
10/11/2017 12:58 | Could be really big if competition can't replicate and undercut. They may have a year or two head start or Apple may follow the dirty on them and take it in house again Compare that to your Fevr or BOO where low barriers to entry, new entrants arriving and fashions and fads changing regularly Saw another two "boos" advertise last night Give it five years, not sure we will see Fevr or Boo at these dizzy heights but IQE? | toptrump1
10/11/2017 12:53 | When I read the IQE trading update, it sounded like a possible profit warning to me...... The Board remains confident that at current trading levels, the Company is on track to achieve market expectations. Given it remains early into the final quarter, there are inevitably a number of uncertainties between now and the year-end close. So if everything goes as good as they are now, they are likely to MEET EXPECTATIONS, so based on that, I have taken a short position on IQE, see how it goes, I will most probably lose money based its fan club. See what happens when USA opens, whether they short more or close their shorts ... It's a fun game. | modform
10/11/2017 11:58 | Interesting views on IQE. Always good to hear alternative opinions. | allstar4eva
10/11/2017 11:51 | Wafers & semiconductors is a commodity business.. difficult to keep ahead of the competition, expensive research staff and continuous investment required. Can be a rewarding trade if someone know how to time it well.. not me though.. | attrader
10/11/2017 11:50 | Hi Big7, if you search this thread on IQE I think you will find everything I have to say. To me it's a cash consuming machine, not a cash generating machine. I think it plays the Welsh card, to gain public money, very well. I suspect it falsely portrays its technical advantage. This cash raising is ostensibly to buy new machines based on the promise of new markets. It's been at about 20p for about 7 years and has rocketed on promises about Apple and new markets. Jam tomorrow - yeah right. All in my far from humble opinion :-) PRV is still suffering from China costs and lack of returns. I must have another look at it. apad | apad
10/11/2017 11:27 | You are probaly right re: Sweenoid however the Stifel note seems to back up a lot of his points. | allstar4eva
10/11/2017 11:22 | I don't think the share price would be as high if Sweenoid wasn't around too, rightly or wrongly Interesting that you don't rate them APAD, is it the nos.? They have not come up with the goods yet but next yr could (needs to be) spectacular But how will this huge investment get dealt with in the accounts? Won't it cancel out the rise in gross profits | big7ime
10/11/2017 11:15 | Didn't they just raise £100m? Anyway I only have a small position there but if investors can pay an eye watering pe for stuff like FEVR why not for IQE? | allstar4eva
10/11/2017 11:12 | I did very well in IQE but it's one of those annoying cos. By the time the tech starts making the money, it needs further investment to change/update, acquire and so on so never makes the money it was predicting Maybe this time will be different... | big7ime
10/11/2017 10:32 | What's the problem here with IQE? Yes looks overvalued at present however markets look forward and the more confidence that the market has in the forward prospects the higher price they are prepared to pay now. | allstar4eva
10/11/2017 10:23 | Investors flock, lemming like, to IQE post placing :-) apad | apad
10/11/2017 08:28 | HSBC today reaffirms its reduce investment rating on Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC (LON:HIK) and cut its price target to 865p (from 1060p). red | redartbmud |
