Comment on Hot Stock Rockets.... highlights

Vela Technologies (VELA) has updated on another substantial valuation uplift in one of its investments, this time in ‘social commerce’ platform The Social Superstore Ltd.

The company has followed positive news from Portr Ltd with an announcement that The Social Superstore has informed that it has successfully raised £1.75 million at a £10 million pre-money valuation................... This further supports our view that a sub 0.20p share price, capitalising Vela at only circa £0.9 million, represents a vast discount to its net asset value ( it must be close to 0.5p now) – with the company itself emphasising that:............... “based either on such valuation events or the market value of portfolio investments, the board of Vela believes the underlying value of the portfolio is significantly higher than the value attributed to Vela at this current time”and that “with a further valuation event from an investee company, the board of Vela hopes that investors will be able to better understand the underlying value of the portfolio”.

This hasn’t been the case thus far but with results for the company’s year ended 31st March 2015 to be published by the end of September and continuing to see the potential for a comprehensive update on the value of the investment portfolio and further news flow to spark the shares higher, at up to 0.20p, our stance remains buy - target 0.35p+ to sell.

Highlghtsd of today's RNS

The Social Superstore Limited ("The Social Superstore"), one of Vela's portfolio companies, that it has successfully raised a pre-Series A funding round of £1.75 million at a £10.0 million pre-money valuation (the "Fundraise"). The Fundraise was undertaken at a price of £3.11 per ordinary share in The Social Superstore ("Social Superstore Share").

Vela has an interest in 71,429 Social Superstore Shares which have a paper value equivalent to approximately £222,000 at the price of the Fundraise. Following completion of the Fundraise Vela has an interest in approximately 1.89% of the fully diluted share capital of The Social Superstore.

Vela originally invested £100,000 in the £1m seed fundraise undertaken by The Social Superstore in May 2014 which resulted in Vela holding 71,429 Social Superstore Shares. This fundraise was undertaken at a £3 million pre-money valuation.

"With a further valuation event from an investee company, the board of Vela hopes that investors will be able to better understand the underlying value of the portfolio. Based either on such valuation events or the market value of portfolio investments, the board of Vela believes the underlying value of the portfolio is significantly higher than the value attributed to Vela at this current time."

Came across this regarding Portr .... Vela's shareholding in just this one investment could be worth much more than Vela itself. It's already been valued by investors at 60% of the Vela market cap ..... wakey wakey

AirPortr luggage delivery service makes flying from London a doddle for golfers

AirPortr luggage delivery service makes flying from London a doddle for golfers

Golfers flying from two of London’s airports can enjoy hassle-free travel without their golf bags or luggage in tow, thanks to the new AirPortr luggage transfer service.

Originally launched at London City Airport in May 2014, the service has been extended to Gatwick Airport by London-based travel tech start-up company Portr.

So now Gatwick passengers can also take advantage of the same-day, on-demand luggage service which provides bag-free travel to and from their home, workplace or holiday destination within London, Gatwick and the surrounding and connecting London corridor.

AirPortr’s team of concierges and drivers collect and deliver passengers’ often-burdensome baggage between their location and the airport within hours and at a time suited to them. Passengers can now travel bag-free, resulting in quicker, lighter and stress-free journeys.

Departing travellers with an afternoon or evening flight can be free to make the most of their departure day, leaving it later before making the journey to the airport as they no longer have to factor in extra time carrying their heavy luggage.

Arriving passengers offload their bags with the AirPortr team when they land and travel straight to their destination, avoiding carrying luggage around with them all day.

AirPortr’s service is priced deliberately as an “affordable luxury”. For example, two bags whatever their size or weight delivered to or from the airport into central London costs only £30. Prices start at just £15 for the first bag to or from Gatwick and the local area, costing £25 to central London and £35 to outer London, where the service is currently limited to. Each additional bag costs just £5. The service covers all luggage accepted by airlines, including golf bags.

Airportr Iphone 499X356Luggage can be booked and delivered in hours. Bags are GPS tracked in real time from a user’s smartphone and they also receive delivery updates by text or email. There are no amendment or cancellation fees and each booking is covered for £10,000.

Speaking about the Gatwick launch for the service, Portr marketing manager Marie-Claire Lalor said: “This is great news for golfers. We did have lots of deliveries last year for golfers travelling through London City Airport so it is great to be open in Gatwick.”

She added that since the service had begun at London City Airport, they had found that it was very popular with people going on weekend breaks.

“We can pick the luggage up from their home and deliver it to the airport on the Friday so they don’t have to take it into the office with them, and then we can deliver it home on the Monday if they want to go straight into the office,” she said.

The AirPortr luggage delivery service can be booked in advance or on the day of travel, via www.portr.com.

Customers can also go online to check which zone they are in and whether their pick-up or drop-off address is covered by the service at both airports.

So Hargreave Hale, considered to be one of the smartest investors in small and mid caps is investing in Portr. Clearly they think Portr has the potential to be worth many times the value of their investment.

Portr's value represents most of the market cap of Vela so investors could invest in Vela as a proxy for investing in Portr ..... interesting
