Another large trade today at 79p. There have been a few of these recently. It looks to me as though someone is quite happily buying at 79p and this buyer is the reason that SCAP are happy to soak up the occasional small sell by bidding 76p.

Still no results though!

TNO out with strong results today. Will any interest rub off on VTS?

I've always thought personally that Shaw's maxim about teachng would have been much better applied to accountancy:

Viz: ' He who can does, he who cannot accounts, and he who cannot account, audits the accounts!' -:))

Interesting concept that a firm of Chartered Accountants would ditch their auditors because they dont agree with management. If this is the model you believe is 'how the city works' difficult to understand where there is any value in VTS.
I thought the idea of an independent audit was to 'keep management honest' for the benefit of shareholders, clearly egoi does not agree

Egoi i only keep the best of company and try to invest in same. Been watching for a while as the sharepice slowly but steadily moves upwards. If the rise was more dramatic i'd be on the register by now but will wait till confirmation after results.

Hi bb - again! -:) - results could be out any day now so it might be worth waiting to see how good they are imho. I've watched and/or held shares over the years (currently watching only!) and they tend to be quite slow to react to results either way, so I don't think you'd be missing the boat by waiting.

Good solid company with a good track record imho; they did once briefly breach covenants but if I recall correctly they were pretty acquisitive at that stage and it was quickly righted.

I suspect they'd like to acquire one of the bigger fish at some stage (e.g. Tenon?); or they might become a target themselves.

Egoi is this worth a punt at this level.

From the previous announcement I think you're probably right, it's easy to guess imho that the company may think that the auditors are causing unnecessary problems.

If that's the case I'm sure VTS shareholders won't want to keep them on the payroll.

That's how the City works, agreeable.

Still they search for the elusive accounts, what will become clear, I predict, is that this is not a well run company and they will replace their auditors who clearly are not as star-struck as egoi with the company

Shares edging higher again today i see, now comfortably above the recent RNS price.

I guess that the market has a different view from agreeable's multi-year fears!

I was not the one who put out the announcement saying cannot release our results tomorrow as we promised 3 weeks ago because the auditors wont go along with our accounting tricks!

.....And if I recall they made a nice profit the following year which you seem to have omitted to comment on.

You were the one to call them 'rumours', but I imagine most of us seasoned folks on here rather suspected You wouldn't be up to telling the rest of us 'how you heard them'?

Nice try though, I'll give you that! -:)

The fall in share price and going concern qualification were well ahead of a recession.
As for the 'rumours' ....

Did you miss the recession (incase no-one told you, there's been quite a large one over here -;) )?

Actually compared to some other financial institutions, including FTSE 100 banks, VTS held up rather well, and is up about 40% in recent months. We'll see when results come out.

incidentally care to tell us, as one who doesn't apparently work for a rival, where you heard these 'rumours' exactly and how did you manage to say ';inside the house' as you 'don't work for a rival'?

You mean non cash items like recognition of income and expenses ie profit and loss account. If it was so easy to sort out the three weeks dealy from normal reporting timetable should have been enough.
I think you will also find that 99% of time I have been correct as stock came down from 280p to 50p.
For an accountancy practice to be messed up in murky affairs like this following on from going concern qualification two years ago and the annual change of brokers tells its own tale

You've been beating the same tired old stale negative Vantis line, mostly wrongly imho, for years, agreeable; this appears to be non-cash items in the accounts.

Big deal lol.

egoi, what did I tell you, rumour mill suggests big rows with Ernst and Young, auditors, who will be replaced at AGM.
I suspect we may find they have breached bank covenants and that is what the fight is over. The rather lame last minute announcement suggests substantial 'trouble at mill'

Given they are having an analyst´s presentation I doubt very much there´s a problem. If you go back and read a few of agreeable´s posts, Dibbs, I personally suspect you won´t have to try too hard to detect a certain, erm, `theme` over several years imho! -:)

Agreeable, interesting, I hope that you are wrong!

Later results than the previous year is not always bad from what I have seen before but they do say that good results take less time to prepare. The trading statement of 22-05 painted a reasonably positive picture. They said that results were expected to be in line with market expectations. They also stated "Operating margins were sustained during the second half of the year" and that "Cash generation remains in line with our internal forecasts and the Group's net debt position will be at a similar level to the half-year balance reported in January 2009. Cash generation has enabled further investment in developing our growing Business Recovery division"

I have understood that they were reallocating staff to the business recovery division from weaker areas of the business.

We'll know more in a couple of weeks ... The trading statement ended "Given the Group's defensive counter-cyclical and balanced business model, the Directors remain positive about prospects for the future" Lets hope the are correct!

delay in announcing results suggests all is not well at house of VTS. Rumours from inside the house suggest restructuring going on to meet bank covenants etc
