03/10/2024 10:15 | Pound coming off the highs helping today. Close to all time high again. | tim 3
11/9/2024 12:08 | Hi I tend to simplify it by using percentages ie a 10% move up in S&P means around 10% move up in VUSA less currency so if currency moves 10% against you then your gain is probably wiped out. Obviously it trys to track the cash index but its not always exact. Currency is a factor but tends to even itself out over time the pound is at similar levels to the Dollar as it was 5 years ago although it has fluctuated either side. Might be worth plotting VUSA against the SPX on a longer term chart to see how it compares. Thats my understanding anyway hope it helps. | tim 3
10/9/2024 21:14 | Good evening, please can someone here explain how the S&P 500 future at circa $5,499.50 correlates to the 79.6375 of the ETF? Convert the FX then a multiple? Is there a rule of thumb? Many thanks. | praipus
05/8/2024 09:57 | Increased risk but should not be forgotten fed has many tools in their armony. Personally as it's my usual strategy as a long time holder when sell offs or crashes occur, looking to add and this is no different. | tim 3
05/8/2024 09:51 | Recession? | marno17
07/2/2024 09:26 | Taken some vusa off the table. More to take advantage of CGT allowance which drops by half next tax year. Will buy back in ISA but not now. | tim 3
23/1/2024 18:52 | All time highs coming thick and fast!Waiting a while to top up. | tim 3
20/11/2023 14:50 | Thanks for that. | disc0dave46
20/11/2023 12:32 | VUSA pays out a dividend where as VUAG reinvests the dividend. In other words vusa is classed as a distribution etf where as vuag is an accumulation etf. | tim 3
20/11/2023 11:46 | Quick question: what's the difference (if any) between VUAG and VUSA? | disc0dave46
17/11/2023 10:09 | ATH, nice. | tim 3
19/7/2023 14:51 | Sorry I don't I hold outright.Perfect storm today pound dropping and spx rising.Not far off ATH happy days. | tim 3
19/7/2023 13:02 | Anyone know how the charges are allocated if you hold this with IG? | rhatton
12/7/2023 14:47 | Added quite a few in the last year or so around 60 happy to see them doing well held back a little by the strong Pound.Could do with adding a few more in ISA but been waiting for a decent sell off which seems allusive.Maybe get one in the autumn possibly ? | tim 3
19/2/2023 19:42 | "The indexes has caused absolute agony among the intelligent investment professionals because 95% of people have almost no chance of beating it over time" Charlie Munger (Warren Buffett's right hand man). | tim 3
02/2/2023 22:36 | One of the best days for a long time perfect storm of falling pound and rising index. Another day like this and we are close to ATH. | tim 3
02/2/2023 22:16 | Complete opposite side of the risk spectrum from VUSA, is Clearpool. $CPOOL is crypto so understand that may turn you off straight away. But Clearpool seeks to facilitate permissionless on chain credit to institutions looking to get into DeFi. Worth a look if your open minded. | djbilywiz
31/1/2023 09:49 | Yeah. Not much to talk about with an index...Chat is more relevant to individual securities with conversation points around earnings, headwinds, etc etc | carl79
30/1/2023 21:25 | Yes there is not much talk about this on the boards probably because its a bit boring but am ok with that not after getting rich overnight as in practice that often ends up getting poor overnight! Am confident this will give a decent return in the future as the S&P has done over the decades. This is my number 1 investment its low cost structure along with my belief that long term the S&P will do ok means I plan to continue to add on weakness especially if we get a full scale crash. Also hold some UK investment trusts but this is by far my biggest investment. | tim 3
30/1/2023 17:28 | Indeed, I've been adding here, VUKE and VHYL. Great exposure.... | dancing piranha
21/12/2022 13:14 | Added under 60 again. Thats it for now. Will consider adding more if it goes lower. | tim 3
16/12/2022 11:05 | Pound well of lows and dip in SPX, might go lower but happy to bag a few under 60p Added. | tim 3
29/10/2022 14:52 | Am inclined to agree with Carl on this after a little research VUSA looks to have performed a lot better on various time frames that I use when looking at performance so think for me it's the better option although of course everyone is different and vhyl will certainly appeal more to those needing a good dividend. | tim 3
27/10/2022 22:42 | If you have a shorter time horizon (more risk averse) or need the income, that could work. But I'm after growth and am quite comfortable with volatility, more than likely to add in dips as opposed to wish they never happened.VHYL are also a more expensive ETF. Still relatively cheap, but 4x the cost of VUSA all the same. | carl79 |
