Just listened again to today's podcast on vox markets with Uplands CEO,
Dr. Steve Staley.

Some points:-

Contact made with uplands between Tune Group and uplands chairman. Both being highly successful prominent figures in Malaysia, and known to each other.

Uplands presented to Tune Group.

Tony Fernandez the 'Alan Sugar' of Malaysia.

Wick 'prize there potentially very large, upto 250M barrels in place. It's a company maker'

Spudding Aug 18.

North Africa and Far East projects "certainly hope to make an announcement on one of these in the near future" (delays being governments of respective countries)

"Both projects moving well. And will announce progress as soon as we can in BOTH areas"

-clearly Steve implies uplands are going for both these biggies!

Steve sums up: "2018 is looking 'very' exciting on a number of fronts"

Glad Steve recognised that he has been quoting 'in the near future' too many times with regards to Malaysian and N.African deals! For me apart from the welcome new 'cornerstone' investor the other big news is Steve saying that Wick could be spud as early as late August (I assume he means 2018!).I am much happier today than I was a few days ago and with over 50% of stock now with management and the broker (who still have to prove their worth to me), the lowish free float means this should be much higher before August and if it is successful then.....:-)

Soulsauce- agreed. And the Malaysian connection gets even stronger.

Additional to Wick, Of the 2high impact prospects uplands Are also considering, I think it fair to say, on balance, The Malaysian biggie now looks the likelier option to land at the mo.

But either will b a potential game changer. Just like Wick.

Clearly an extremely attractive portfolio being targeted.

Quite right Argyle.

They haven't chucked a million quid at this as a bet on Wick nor are they here just to make the odd 10 or 20%.

yogaboy quite agree

I've added a few today.

There is a clarity of purpose and execution to the way this company operates. When the deal lands, there will be a clamour for shares.

think as the supply of shares is tight we may see drops on little volume as MMs look to gather stock.

I'm holding tight and adding

If the new investor is a chum of the Chairman then would it not be an absolute coincidence if any news is forthcoming soon re North Africa or the Far East - he says mulling to himself!

And still hoping to secure deals in Malaysia and Morocco.

Like I said earlier Tune aren't chucking £1m at this to gamble on Wick.

In a note on this farm-in their broker, Optiva Securities state:

“If we assume a commercial discovery at Wick leading to a 75 mmbbls field development (assuming a 30% recovery factor), a conservative NPV of only $7.50/bbl indicates an unrisked valuation of up to US$225m net to Upland. Although a range of administrative, technical and financial factors will need to be addressed and appropriate risk factors applied, we believe that deal enhances Upland’s UK oil and gas portfolio significantly.”;

Soul, We can only surmise that it must have been a "convincing" story told for Tune to pony up £1m!

I doubt Tune would roll £1m on the Wick dice and hope it doesn't come up with snake eyes. I think it is safe to assume Tune are in for something bigger with the Malaysian connection.

Yes sounds good doesn't it kemche ;-)

Now funding is in place I suspect we are getting close to one of those high impact assets.

"The investment by Tune supports Upland's move to the second phase of our strategy, to invest in high impact assets, which will help us realise potentially transformative value growth."
