One day you will all thank me for making this rise happen...About a month ago, jammed up against a deadline that's not relevant to this tale, I had to take the plunge and buy my new car. It was a toss up between selling NCCL or selling UPL, and I chose to liquidate a million of my UPL at 3p for thirty grand. My logic went like this - NCCL will blow first, and I can use those gains to buy back the UPL in plenty of time for the news that's coming. Now NCCL is off the peak as it faces further delays to its forthcoming deal, and UPL is racing away. Pah!On the other hand, the million I still hold were bought at 1.6p, but it still hurts. Could turn out to be the most expensive Subaru in the UK...

A lot of people sold out of Cove on the 1st onshore well which was entirely a commitment well and not in the optimum location for Cove management. Likewise when the 1st offshore well was gas and not oil, many departed as well to their misjudgement on the in-ground value.

There was about 271m shares in issue late 2009 and at 24p the m/cap was touching £65m. The offshore wells at the time were about £70-£80m at the time. High prices and different era/different time.

7/12/2009.
Mecupa 1 Commitment Well - Onshore Mozambique
"...the decision has been taken by the partners to plug and abandon the well at this time." Barely 2 years later sold for £1.2b at 240p/share Feb 2012 from a low of 9p.

I expect UPL will have a possible 2C resource on the Tunisian licence which could change the dynamic here. I'm hoping for a producing/near producing asset in Sarawak.

Henry, Coved was sold for £1.2B, once they proved up the field, Cove wasn't trading at £100m + before they spudded the Cove well.

Both have substantial value in their portfolio, which they are in the process of unlocking. Management of both have a lot of 'skin in the game', aligning themselves with shareholders. Assets are quality.

Finally, Steve Staley is involved with both. I hold stakes in both, rather than flipping between them.

we need e-bomber from TERN to buy into UPL Stark, his regular L2/3 updates are really useful for getting a steer as to what is happening behind the scenes

Lols, seems to be some correlation between Predator (prd) and UPl. Peeps today cashing in some profit on prd (down day) and pumping into UPl today, up day. Noticed this several times

Henry, likely sell on..

“In general, whether or not we hold an asset until production depends on several factors. If we are lucky enough to make a huge discovery, then it is likely that the capital required to develop it would be well beyond our means, even with project financing, so we would probably sell this project on or at least sell a majority stake. With things like Hardstoft, which is onshore, not very big and cheap to develop, we would probably try and stay with it into production.’”

Cove Energy didn't produce one sniff of gas, had only percentage stakes in the fields and was sold for £1.2 Billion. In fact - the fields still aren't in production to this day and won't be until next year. I don't get the comments regarding production having an influence on the value of the company.

Will UPL prove the resources and sell them on? Or go into full field production?

I'm fully expecting more news from Tunisia in the not too distant future; alongside a concurrent Wick drill then £50 million will look cheap imo.

Looks like we have breakout now we'll also have just simple chart traders jumping on board as much as we don't like it. Wait till the heard arrives which inevitably will and this will cause a huge spike up I'm hoping it doesn't as steady increase are easier to sustain. its still very quiet at present
