The 471k at 10.52 and at 1.80 was a buy! Smokes and mirrors. Very few (if any) sells. This can be over 2p by end of close tomorrow with the possibility that one of the weekend press may pick up on it too now it is mentioned in The Times.

the Upl presentation and case for investment must have been utterly compelling.

These guys now own approx 16% of an oil company. They would have been made insiders and most likely seen the type/scale of assets being discussed. They could have gotten into any oil company so why would UPL be one of the few companies for them to invest in? I'm sure like their other interests they will be looking for a return in multiples from such a small main listed fledgling company.

"With Tune's backing we will be able to pursue the very exciting Wick Prospect and to finance other future opportunities" - Steve Staley.

"The two men behind AirAsia are Kamarudin Meranun, the airline's executive chairman, and his business partner, Tony Fernandes, group chief executive. In January 2016 they purchased the entire issuance of 559 million new shares in their flagship, spending $228 million. The market liked this show of confidence and the stock soared."

PS I meant 10-15p by late August but will not be complaining if we get ahead of ourselves (will make a nice change! Lol!)

TheJABA, I had a target of 5p by end of 2017 which was why I was frustrated (I am not that often wrong at this age of my life!).With the announcement yesterday and what that entails for the Malaysian deal, the possible North African deal with 1tcf gas plus the spudding of Wick by late Summer, we should be at a mkt cap of between £30-£50m which is around 10-15p depending on further dilution. As always IMHO and DYOR.

Times today:UPL jumped 11.5% to 1.75p. Tune Group, the vehicle of Tony Fernandes and Kamarudin Meranun that owns Air Asia and a majority stake in QPR, the football club, spent about £1 million on a stake of about 16% in the upstream oil and gas group.

this will go ballistic once a deal is announced. With the lack of stock I'm expecting 5p in very short order.

PS Following my comment yesterday about this not being on the radar of the financial press, I believe there is a good mention in The Times today (not seen it myself though)

Agreed Zen.

Meanwhile Mkt cap of £6.5m for cash of circa £3m and prospects for £3.5m. Hmmm.

£2m already in cash and didn't absolutely need the £1m from Tune right now unless, and imo news can't be too far off on that upcoming project that they hope to announce soon.

Just listened again to today's podcast on vox markets with Uplands CEO,
Dr. Steve Staley.

Some points:-

Contact made with uplands between Tune Group and uplands chairman. Both being highly successful prominent figures in Malaysia, and known to each other.

Uplands presented to Tune Group.

Tony Fernandez the 'Alan Sugar' of Malaysia.

Wick 'prize there potentially very large, upto 250M barrels in place. It's a company maker'

Spudding Aug 18.

North Africa and Far East projects "certainly hope to make an announcement on one of these in the near future" (delays being governments of respective countries)

"Both projects moving well. And will announce progress as soon as we can in BOTH areas"

-clearly Steve implies uplands are going for both these biggies!

Steve sums up: "2018 is looking 'very' exciting on a number of fronts"

Glad Steve recognised that he has been quoting 'in the near future' too many times with regards to Malaysian and N.African deals! For me apart from the welcome new 'cornerstone' investor the other big news is Steve saying that Wick could be spud as early as late August (I assume he means 2018!).I am much happier today than I was a few days ago and with over 50% of stock now with management and the broker (who still have to prove their worth to me), the lowish free float means this should be much higher before August and if it is successful then.....:-)
