Nice bit of debt reduction. Chart now pointing to 250. Long way for this to recover.

SP continues to rise steeply today, following the late rush last night (+ c. 16% @1300hrs)

The 31Jul09 meeting of Unite USAF Noteholders has been adjourned until 26Aug09 (due to lack of Quorum) and notified by RNS today,

Seems to refer to amendments due to downgrading of RBS and LLoyds credit rating. However, I may be well wide of the mark due to my lack of understanding of legalese. The orig announcement of the 31Jul meeting is here.

Not complaining but would welcome some clarity (and the rise to continue, of course).

Cheers

This has got to start motoring at some point. Building quite a large position in anticipation.

Maddox,

I bought in at 70p and sold out at about £1.08 after they dropped from £1.20. Think long term this is a very good share but there are others to make money out of during the summer. I can`t see anything to get Unite rocketing in the next few months so I am happy to watch till autumn time. Although if they drop back to £1.00 or below I`d be very tempted to buy and hold.
I tend to look for upcoming results dates, research the company and buy in a few weeks before. So many shares seem undervalued so any good results send share prices up 10 to 20% quite quickly, IMO. This strategy seems to have worked for the last few months so I`ll probably stick wih it.

Regards JB.

Hi jb,

I do not work for Unite which is one interpretation of your question. On the other, yes I hold a position that I have accumulated both on the way up and now on the way down. You'll have gathered that I'm very positive on Unite and I'm adding to my holding. Unsurprizingly, I'm currently holding a loss.

I focus on a few key investments and I look for firms with a great strategy and business model, in a growing market and with excellent management. I build up my holding as I increase my understanding and confidence in the business. Unite has ticks in all the boxes, the fact that the market has thought otherwise presents a better buying opportunity.

So jb what is your position?

Regards, Maddox

Maddox, just curious, do you hold a position with Unite? You`ve been posting for ages and was wondering whether you hold a large loss / shorted it down / stood and watched?? :)

With the share price having doubled in under a month from its lowest low it might be assumed that some profit taking is occuring. However, I'm surprised that FI hasn't turned up to tell us that he's doubled up on his short position.

I like this sstock as its a one-off so conventional analysts dont know how to price it. I still think the dividend policy is rubbish.

Well the share price has recovered from its dip.

It looks like it is institutional buying that is supporting the rise; from the beginning of March three have added substantially to their holdings. Legal & General has just added 3.7m shares bringing their stake up to 7% from under 4%. Similarly, Standard Life has added 3.6m shares bring their stake up to 7% from 4%, and before them Deutsche has brought its stake up to circa 10% from 7%.

I think that this is significant. We've seen a very clear set of financials from Unite where they have taken the opportunity to open their kimono to all aspect of the business, particularly funding, in order to assure their investors. This has been followed by the directors buying fairly significant stakes. Now we are seeing that the institutions are buying the story and buying the shares.

This provides further confidence that the stark mismatch between the ~80p share price and the 325p Net Asset Value is indeed an anomaly.
