rising input costs will surely be a factor at the update. i would be surprised if they are able to match or beat those costs with price hikes. so its poss the upcoming update wont be rosy. im not saying its a given, but i wouldnt be surprised as many are unable to fully pass on the higher input costs. maybe this forced the ceos hand late last year when he began tapping up gsk.

nick, any offer given the size would be subject to shareholder approval.
It's a dead parrot.

Find it extraordinary and not surprised by much these days.

I presume if they do come with a higher offer it will have to be put to the shareholders, from todays share price the share holders have spoken.

I was at ABN at the timeThe lack of due diligence was mind blowing. Fred just wanted to get in b4 Barclays at any costHaving said that ABN staff/shareholders had all shares paid out at the top just before Bank shares crashed

Dope was toast at 8.05 this morning Phil.

Deal is dead in the water as it requires shareholder approval.

However, this may lead to an opportunity, difficult to gauge where the price may go.

Around 8% lower, coupled with recent underperformance looks to discount a lot -
barring a disappointment on the next trading update.

Buying opportunity now says a few on the wire. Will see later what reaction are from fund mangers. They must be going mad and will demand a stop to this crazy idea.

Consumer staples in an inflationary environment like this makes some sense but Terry Smith is going to be even less pleased if this continues

Here's a novel idea, make the most of the product portfolio you have before venturing into more very expensive bolt ons.
