24/6/2017 08:21 | Well done mm, keep them coming! Btw, do you think you might become a advfn bluey? I.e. Pay £6+ week for continuous feeds? Or are you happy as you are? Perhaps you have another source? I find it a bit frustrating first thing in the day when market opens, but it's better later on. But the temptation to go blue again is a tough one! | rayrac
24/6/2017 07:56 | Oil found at Broadford Bridge drilling site Exploratory oil drilling at Broadford Bridge near Adversane has uncovered oil in the Kimmeridge limestone. Samples showing ‘mobile light oil’ were announced today, with chairman UK Oil and Gas Stephen Sanderson calling the finds a ‘significant and positive result’. The Broadford Bridge drilling site The Broadford Bridge drilling site Protesters have been campaigning against the site for several months over environmental concerns and fears of water contamination. The drilling has a permit from the Environment Agency, which assesses the risk to water sources. Mr Sanderson said UKOG would ‘continue our coring and drilling programme and then move to an extended flow testing operation upon the grant of the remaining necessary regulatory permissions’. In a statement to shareholders, UKOG said oil was observed ‘seeping from open natural fractures’ with the rock 4080ft down showing ‘saturated&rsq The 160ft worth of core samples will tested extensively, but UKOG believe the oil could extend more than ‘30km from north to south across the Weald Basin’. 24/6/2017 06:44 | The following report was published before Ukog's acquisition of Broadford Bridge. Gla holders ;-) Ernst and Young Report The so-called Gatwick Gusher, a shale basin in the United Kingdom, could add as much as $74 billion to the nation's economy, a study finds. U.K. Oil & Gas Investments commissioned Ernst & Young to examine the future potential of oil production from the Weald shale basin. "Assuming it can be extracted from a development site at the volumes projected by U.K. Oil & Gas, has the potential to generate significant economic value to the U.K. economy," the report read. Oil & Gas U.K., the industry's lobbying group, said the North Sea oil sector is in for a long period of decline, with less than $1.4 billion in new spending expected in 2016. Inland shale, meanwhile, has the potential to add between $10 billion and $74.6 billion to the British economy in gross value, the commissioned report said. Operators are working to assess the potential in the shale area by testing the Horse Hill-1 oil discovery. Preliminary estimates made by the company last year put the entire Horse Hill reserve total as high as 100 billion barrels of oil. If its full potential is reached, the future production from the area could provide as much as a quarter of the nation's total oil demand over its lifespan, based on 2014 demand levels. The field, locked in a geological formation called the Kimmeridge Limestone, is about three miles away from the Gatwick Airport, earning it the nickname the Gatwick Gusher. Stephen Sanderson, the executive chairman of U.K. Oil & Gas, said developing the shale basin could make a significant contribution to the British economy. Oil is already flowing at nearly three times the expected peak rate. "It is therefore possible that the overall economic impact of Kimmeridge Limestone oil could be significantly higher than this initial report describes," he said in a statement. | moneymunch

23/6/2017 23:46 | Crude oil accounts for 40% of the world's total energy needs. It is vital for the production of gasoline, jet fuel and plastics. The largest consumer of crude oil is the United States using almost 20 million barrels a day. China is the second largest consumer of crude oil with 8 million barrels a day. One barrel of crude oil contains 42 gallons of oil. Just look at the scope of catch-up between China and the USA! Then think of all the other nations of the world who can't yet get their hands on crude to any significant extent. There's a vast untapped market for crude, and they'd have you believe the market is at its peak for its use! Oil is a precious, depleting product that has an increasing demand. Figure it out! | rayrac
