There isn't sufficient volume to bother with technicals, we have had months of no trades or very few.

This will move on the next update which may be a trading statement, and failing that the 1H results at the end of this month. Those results will not include Vamousse sales in a head lice season so even they won't tell us much but they will have an idea of sales now that we are in the 'back-to-school' period. It's the forward looking statement that interests me more than anything.

The fly in the ointment will be OutSmart which has been pulled until they can come up with an alternative mix of ingredients. Pity about that coz it got rave reviews from most but there were a handful of people whose horses had a skin reaction to the product.

Tick tock.

5* The best stuff, buy it!

Amazing stuff. After battling the plague of nits that just seemed to keep coming back and building some kind of resistance to the usual stuff, I was desperate. It was embarrassing, and when I started itching too, I was mortified.

I saw an advert for Vamousse on television. It wasn't like the oil based stuff we used and promised to kill everything, lice and eggs.
It arrived this morning, I have 4 children plus myself to treat, we have only used one can. (Although I ordered two)
1) it has a pleasant smell, oddly sweet, but not offensive, doesn't burn your throat or nose. Very gentle in that respect.
2) I would say that me and the kids ha e sensitive scalps. I've used stuff in the past that has burnt me Vamousse doesn't!
3) Waited the 15 minutes and then began to comb (the comb included in each packet is fantastic) you will be shocked by the results.
4) We could see dead ones on the scalp which just combed out, tiny little ones that we couldn't know were there.
5) the instructions inside are good, easy and clear to follow.

Don't mess about, although this product appears more expensive it is worth every penny. My whole family are nit free, I no longer feel like I am letting them down or embarrassed!! You will not regret your purchase!

Note to self as no one else is reading...lol

Retailers and number of outlets added to the header.

Almost 50,000 outlets in the USA alone. If they each sold just 1 that's over $1m revenue. The next trading statement should make for an interesting read.

I am 37 years old and have never had the wonderful opportunity with lice before. A co-worker of mine had came in contact with a customer who had lice. Unknowingly the co-worker had given it to me bc we share a cubicle. I didn't realize that I had lice for 2 weeks. I treated my pets thinking they have fleas. Once the co-worker told me I immediately knew I had it bc my scalp never itches. I went home to investigate my scalp and sure enough I had lovely nits in my hair. I called my doctor and he informed me that there is a resistant strand going around. The old medications do not work on the super lice. Plus the old medication is dangerous and have caused serious health problems, look it up on Google and it will make you rethink about what you put on your body. My doctor referred me to an actual place who specializes in just lice. To be seen it was $25. To be treated could be up to $150+. The professional uses nothing but Vamousse and an expensive lice comb. If I would have known that Wal-Mart sales Vamousse I would have done it myself. Do not waste your time on treatment that is unatural, unsafe as well as does not work. invest in Vamousse.

This stuff is selling like hot cakes...

The product needs to avoid lengthy and expensive medical trials, and how it describes itself in Europe and the US is different in order to comply with their rules. I don't think this issue has historically been well communicated to investors.

As I understand it, ingredients used can be from three testing lists:
a. Full pesticide
b. Abbreviated bio pesticide
c. Exempt list

Ex-Vanderbilt University staff have formulated with products from the Exempt list to attack the tyramine receptor, and also to break down the casing on nits.

What is declared on the packaging as 'active' is what is required to comply with the rules, not a description of how the formulation achieves its goals.

The salt discussion was on one of the other threads here on ADVFN. Some poster just wouldn't give up on his insistence that the products are simply based on salt.

Think it's a case of researchers not making the best businessmen...

None of the 3 big shots, Jactel, Reade & Hill, have a research background. Read the header. Their interests are also aligned with shareholders with Jactel & Reade having decent sized holdings, and we do not suffer from continual placings diluting our holdings. Last years' placing was entirely necessary to get the UK market up and running and they have cash in the bank.

For a company of this size to get it's products on the shelves of so many major retailers in such a short timeframe across the whole of the USA & UK is quite an achievement in my opinion. Vamousse is/was the 2nd best selling product of it's type after just 6 months on the shelves at Walmart & is already highly ranked on Amazon.

Read the Guardian reviews...91% give a 4/5* rating.

No mention of salt on LSE. One mention on the 21 trader thread (post 203 bsimm)
Haven't checked iii yet. So hardly "done to death" as discussions go.

Already familiar with that link. Think they used to have a more detailed write up on the website.

Extract:

"Primary Sources for Active Ingredients
The principal source of the natural materials that are used in TyraTech products are plant essential oils. These oils are naturally occurring chemicals which have evolved for plant defense against invertebrate attackers, and which can act as insecticides or repellents. Essential oils comprise the volatile compounds contained in the odorous parts of plants and are normally prepared by steam distillation. Examples of these oils include geranium, citrus and thyme oil. They are contained in flowers, roots, bark, stems, leaves, fruits and seeds."

Anyway, in the list of inactive ingredients is "Fragrance", so it could be possible the plant extract is there. Maybe having it listed as inactive saves on paperwork, and helps keep rivals in the dark (to some extent) The extracts used, were supposed to be active in themselves or enhance the activity of other chemicals. Maybe that's what they've done.

I see they've applied for patents for other product mixes. If they patent the most effective mix, it doesn't stop them varying it if they have to, for whatever reason, but it does help put others off if they think TYR have the sweet spot with their proven, certified mix.

The speed of their proprietary testing, and resulting certification has to be a major advantage, for coping with insects that develop a resistance to the usual insecticide and naturally based products. IMO.

Certainly be interested in reading the salt discussion.
Look in at this company every now and again, but don't recall seeing it.

The point is why have they not come up with the plant oil based solution, when that is where their expertise, and patented screening methods were focused?

PIM Plant Impact were another one at the time, that was hoping to sell natural insect repellents based on plant oils. Their "Bug Oil" was based on a specific mix of oils which is/was registered/patented. But vary the mix slightly and it is outside the patent.
( For a not entirely relevant example look at Mapp Gas. There are at least a dozen patented variations of basically the same gas, but with slightly - a few percent- different mixes. Kyrene is the French version)

IMO compared to Plant Impact, TYR had the advantage with their patent(s)as natural oils are of variable quality and properties. So TYR could quickly make, test, and certify the effectiveness of their mix within a few weeks. If it was close to anyone's patented mix they could alter it to put it just outside the patent, and check, and certify that it was still effective.

If a batch of plant oil was lower quality they could vary the quantities, or add something else to make up for it.

Insects in one area may be resistant to a particular mix, or develop a resistance to a mix that was effective. There again TYR should have been able to quickly alter the mix to produce something that does the job.

So they should be streets ahead of everyone else, if they stick to what they are supposed to be expert in. (Anyone can use salt)

Think it's a case of researchers not making the best businessmen, which in this case is surprising (to me anyway)considering it was Vanderbilt University that developed it. Ranked th 16th best in the US and " Fortune magazine ranked Vanderbilt among the top 100 places to work in the United States, the only university on their list."(Wikipedia)

They should have been well able to make a business success of TYR.

Used to be in here 2009/10. Can't understand why they do not seem to be getting anywhere...

You certainly don't understand, or you haven't been following.

The groundwork has been done and this is the first head lice season where Vamousse is on the shelves at many of the stockists. In the USA Walmart was last year, now they have Walgreens, CVS, Rochester Drug, Bartell Drug and more than 20,000 independent pharmacies served by the 3 largest distributors of pharmaceutical products. The UK has been covered with Vamousse being sold through major supermarkets and most of the major pharma chains.

You can't expect them to have already generated large sales numbers so far without having Vamousse stocked on shelves during a head lice season. This is the first.

The salt discussion has already been done to death so I won't even comment save to say you are plain wrong.
Read this...

See what the results tell us at the end of September.

Used to be in here 2009/10. Can't understand why they do not seem to be getting anywhere. (OXA was another favourite, never went anywhere.....also sold because it was way too slow)

Just looked at the Vamousse reviews on Amazon, and saw this:

" Is there tea tree iol in ingrediant?

A: Hi, I'm from the Vamousse Customer Support Team, and wanted to assist you in your question regarding the ingredients. I am confirming that there is no tea tree oil in our product. The only ingredients in our lice treatment, as listed on the box, are as follows: Active: Natrum Muriaticum 2X (HPUS),
Inactive: Ammonium benzoate, Benzyl alcohol, Butyl lactate, Cocamidopropyl betaine, Diazolidinyl urea, Fragrance, Isopropyl alcohol, Isopropyl myristate, Magnesium lauryl sulfate, Propellant A-46, Triethyl citrate and Water. Please contact us via our customer service hotline at (855) 373 7210 or Contact Us form on our website if we can be of more assistance. Thank you."

The active ingredient is supposedly Natrum Muriaticum

Google it.

Don't know what happened to the patented technology to target insect receptors with natural oils.

Is using table salt really the pinnacle of all that research?

So next time you're at the beach, maybe just chuck the kids in the oggin, and spend the money saved on ice cream afterwards.

Spray a bit of seawater on their bedding and you're "sorted" as they say these days. (Salt water tends to keep bedding damp so it won't be any good for the old rheumatism......maybe that's what kills the lice)

Amazon.co.uk - 'only 10 left'...they sold out of that & having restocked yesterday there's now 'only 6 left' again...

Vamousse is sold through iPharmacy & they appear to be running out of stock every 1-3 days. Not sure about the quantities they restock with but I'd guess 24(Vamousse comes in boxes of 6).

Amazon.com - Vaomousse is the 6th best selling lice treatment...

Amazon.co.uk - Vamousse is the 4th best selling lice treatment...

Don't mind me, I'm just talking to myself on here.

On Amazon.com Vamousse is sold out, back in stock tomorrow.

Not sure how much inventory they carry but surely a good sign. The Amazon.co.uk site states there's only 3 left...

Amazon.co.uk restocked on the 19th and today there's 'only 10 left'.

That's in under a week.

Sales forecasts might need revisiting....

Ta Nobby.

I reckon Germany will be for next year, management have their hands full at the moment with the USA & UK. Jonathan Hill was brought on board to look after that.

What great timing with the news about super head lice developing resistance to OTC treatments in half the States in the USA. Press and TV coverage everywhere if you google 'super head lice'. I smell $$$$$$$.

There is no doubt that the Autumn will be the main selling period so the H1 figures will not reflect this. I guess the figures will reflect the sell in rate ahead of the peak season.

I would like to hear about the potential launch in other European countries; if I remember correctly from one of the Proactive investor talks, Germany was next on the list. Obviously this will require good cash flow from the US and UK so we may have to wait a little longer. Also we need to hear about what is happening with the animal products after the transfer from Novartis to Eli Lilly (if I remember correctly).

Regards

Nobby

What do you reckon the 1H results will tell us? I'm talking about what management have to say about Vamousse.
