“I don’t think the pulling of the tender is the last word on SPR purchases this summer,” said Bob McNally, founder of Rapidan Energy Advisors LLC. “The Trump administration is determined to seize an opportunity to acquire cheap barrels and put them into increasingly scarce crude storage capacity. Whether by spending cash on hand or coming to terms with Congress, I expect DOE will be buying barrels later this year."

It does appear nothing was bought but would be surprised if they didn't pick up the 77 million barrels at some point this year.

Trying to follow this. Trump sold significant amounts of the spr before the crisis which dampened the market a bit so surely buying it at a lower price is a good idea? Not according to democrats who left it topped up for 8 years under Obama?

Does anyone know if Trump is still buying 30 million barrels for the spr?

Trump is happy to see the Russians and Saudis proposing to cut oil production, but he does not want his 'oilers' to do the same, for fear of U.S. shale oil companies going to the wall. This might cause the former not to cut oil production until the latter go bust.

They have to cut the production, low production and higher oil price might be more economical for all these countries. So we should see 30p in next 2 days
