This in response to

Approximately 33 billion barrels consumed per year and 865 billion proved global reserves.

So 26 years proved reserves.

"The proven oil reserves in Saudi Arabia are the second largest in the world, estimated to be 268 billion barrels."

If this is now halved as suggested by Professor Michael Jefferson and Saudi continues to produce at approximately 3.5billion barrels a year, how long can 10mbpd be sustained.

Say 134 reserves at max capacity = 38 years to no more oil.

However, it's unlikely to pan out that way. Considering 40% of reserves have been consumed, presumably flow rates will reduce and maybe we are looking at peak Saudi Oil in the next 5 - 10 years. After that, it may be difficult to sustain 10mbpd. It's possible in 15 - 20 years Saudi will only be able to pump 7 - 8 mbpd max.

I can't see that 'keeping prices low' would in anyway affect Iran. Isn't it more likely that 'keeping prices low' allows the Saudi's to buy resources cheaply which they can sell again when oil rises?

Do you think the Saudi's want to float Aramco when oil is low?

TLDR

Saudi is preparing for lower oil production.
They are pretending they have infinite resources for the float
Oil will soon be back to where it was for the float.
Demand at 90mbpd has NEVER been higher

Let's not forget the 2007 prediction

Will be interesting to see if the last prediction is correct...

Happy days. Average price here just over 140p, wondering if 400p would be enough, assuming that it happened fairly soon. What targets do other people have?
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Vagaries of PoO aside, this is one of the best charts you're likely to see out there. Probably not a bad idea to let it ride; so long as you have a handle of your risk/sizing. I have no specific target, though there are lines of resistance.

FWIW, NAI.

Looks like April is a good month for a lot of the oil stocks. Hopefully the momentum continues till at least the end of the year!
The May oil stock competitions are now open for entries, click on link below.

And the best bit is that they have probably saved a lot of money from their oil rig breaking down while oil was at it's cheapest......!!
Nice one Tullow.......

it jus show how thick hedge funds are

they do alright when they bully trades with volume and weight coz they have billions to play with

but when market go against them and they still keep addin to the short , that jus stupid.

why didnt odey and others close their short at 130p or 150p levels?

Anglo american, glencore and tullow have smashed the hedge funds to bits

it make me laugh lots

Read FirstEnergy Capital's note on TULLOW OIL, out this morning, by visiting hxxps://www.research-tree.com/company/GB0001500809
"Market Reaction: Positive. FY16 Capex is going down, production was ahead of our cautious expectations and the overall RBL redetermination is in line with our expectations, where we saw the RBL Borrowing base reduced to US$3.2-3.3 bn by the end of October. The upward revision of Contingent Resources in Kenya is another positive, with the new number of 750 mmbbl close to our expectations (800 mmbbl). Given the situation at Jubilee, a reduction of the FY16 Production Guidance should not come as a surprise. Given the recent share price movement, we do not see any more value in Tullow shares...."

We are currently around resistance point from a previous high so I wouldn't scoff too much. Not a strong resistance point but one all the same.

And before you shout shorter I'm long on this share based on long term technicals.
