23/11/2011 08:44 | But TUI may now benefit as potential customers of THOMAS COOK switch their allegiance so as to protect themselves against the possibility of disruption to their holiday plans. | mesquida
22/11/2011 22:45 | Must agree with careful, the debt is outrageous, be interesting to see how the figures look in December, looks like an ideal short candidate.... | traderbarrett
22/11/2011 18:54 | what worries about tt. is the gross gearing after intangibles of about 158%. such huge debt, similar to TCG. Warren buffett hates companies with mega debt. all caused by takeovers during the good times. the difference between the takeover price and the actual asset value. scary. | careful
22/11/2011 10:50 | Figures coming on 5th December may prove that the market´s reaction this morning was unfair to TUI. I would not be surprised if the German parent now took advantage of the market´s shortsightedness with a bid to buy out the minority at say 200p! | mesquida
22/11/2011 10:05 | Rather odd that TUI should get knocked just because Thomas Cook has been spectactularly badly managed! I guess it was the bit about deteriorating trading conditions that did it, having said that TUI have traded better over the last year than Thomas Cook. | salpara111
22/11/2011 10:01 | tcg demise could be good for tt. effectively a monopoly now. | careful

15/6/2011 12:40 | A punt for when Greece defaults and the Euro collapses: Buy European travel companies. With the euro gone, the peripheral nations will see their currencies fall dramatically, while the core will see theirs appreciate. One consequence will be that it will be dirt-cheap for northern Europeans to go on holiday in Greece and Spain and Portugal again. A traditional pattern of trade will emerge. Northern Europeans make luxury automobiles and machine tools for the world, then two or three times a year relax by sitting by the Mediterranean for a couple of weeks enjoying themselves and spending all that money they earned. That will be great for everyone involved in shifting people from place to place - the tour operators, the airlines, the aircraft manufacturers, and the travel websites. All of them will see their profits soar. | miata
20/2/2011 09:21 | Investor chronicle last friday TUI - SELL In 2010, Tui Travel suffered the consequences of the ash cloud, poor trading and an accounting gaffe. The winter has brought improvements but trading is likely to suffer further. Since Tunisia and Egypt have become popular tourist destinations, the disruption in both countries will be costly. Compared to the £104m cost of the volcanic ash cloud, it accounts for little but still signifies the influence unpredictable events have on tour operator's profits. Today few travellers book holidays far in advance meaning the operators are left to sell late in the season when they must cut prices. Thin margins across the industry mean profits must take an immediate hit. While Tui reported a 6% rise in revenue in 2010, there are serious fears for the UK market this year. It's increasing difficult to justify the price given its inferior margins and the difficulties it faces. Sell. | philmac56
14/2/2011 08:55 | From Monday TCG are imposing increased Fuel Surcharge on all flights booked from 1st April. 7 shorthaul, 13 medium, 29 longhaul. TUI is reported to also be raising its surcharge from 16 Feb....but company have so far denied this. TUI 7 14, 30... -------------------- | philmac56

25/11/2010 08:24 | Could be an interesting few week's here!!.......... Holiday firm TUI Travel is another flying high, on revived speculation that its major shareholder, TUI, is preparing a bid. | aspers
23/11/2010 16:41 | Rumour is that Tui AG are going to make a move soon for TT after they dispose of Hapag Lloyd - that is the only thing that is keeping us above the 200p mark methinks. | killieboy |
