04/4/2004 09:42 | Tripwire Delivers Single-Point Integration With Security And Enterprise Management Consoles -------------------- Date posted in ITsecurity.com: 10 March, 2004 Tripwire Manager 4.1 improves enterprise manageability and integration capabilities London – 9 March 2004 – Tripwire®, Inc., the world leader in change monitoring and reporting software, today announced enhancements to its server management console, Tripwire Manager, easing integration between Tripwire for Servers and security management consoles and enterprise management systems. Tripwire Manager 4.1 delivers single-point access to detailed monitoring and reporting of changes occurring on multiple Tripwire-enabled servers through existing security and enterprise management consoles. This provides IT administrators and managers with centralized visibility of authorized or unauthorized changes affecting service availability and tighter control over change management processes, enabling increased server security and accountability and ultimately ensuring availability of IT services. “Managing today’s complex, heterogeneous operating environments is consuming significant resources and making a staggering impact on our industry,” said Wyatt Starnes, president and CEO of Tripwire. “In an effort to help companies streamline and automate critical infrastructure processes, we've improved Tripwire Manager 4.1 to enable enterprise-wide change detection and reporting through single-point access.” Enterprise customers can monitor thousands of Tripwire for Servers installations remotely from Tripwire Manager. Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) technology provides authentication and data encryption to protect each communication link between Tripwire Manager and Tripwire-equipped servers. Tripwire 4.1 software integrates with security management consoles such as eSecurity Sentinel and ArcSight, and enterprise management systems such as HP OpenView, IBM Tivoli, Remedy, Micromuse Netcool and others. “The new integration capabilities with the Tripwire Manager 4.1 release make integrating Tripwire’s change detection capabilities into our e-Security Sentinel console much easier,” said Reed Harrison, CTO of eSecurity. “Our customers need to focus on critical tasks such as keeping their infrastructure secure and available. Integrating Tripwire’s detailed change reporting into our products is a key element in providing our customers with the tools they need to do their jobs effectively.” Tripwire for Servers with Tripwire Manager is a change monitoring and reporting system that provides IT system administrators the ability to report on in-depth file system changes on Windows and UNIX servers. Information regarding changes to the system is reported and integrated with other security and enterprise management systems to provide IT administrators and managers with information to answer the fundamental question that is asked when servers go down or do not operate properly: “What changed?” This enables increased server security, accountability of changes, and improved visibility of authorized and unauthorized changes, which ultimately ensures the high availability of IT services. “At IP Services our business is managing mission-critical and revenue-generating IT infrastructure for large enterprises. Our clients choose us because of our extraordinary closed-loop change management process and control capabilities,” said Kevin Behr, CTO of IP Services. “Tripwire is a critical building block in our change management architecture, as we use it to close the loop on all infrastructure changes. The new version represents a tremendous advancement in integration capabilities that allowed us to put Tripwire’s powerful detective control capabilities to work immediately. Thanks to Tripwire our system of controls has never been stronger.” About Tripwire, Inc. Tripwire, Inc. is the world leader in change monitoring and reporting. 01/4/2004 21:09 | ONDON, April 1 (New Ratings) – Analysts at Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein maintain their "sell" rating on Alcatel. The target price is set to €8. In a research note published this morning, the analysts mention that Alcatel has failed to announce a solution for its handset making division. The majority stake in the company’s handset business is to be sold to an outside party and advanced talks are continuing with several potential merger candidates, the analysts add. Agreement on the price of the acquisition and the restructuring costs seem to be delaying the deal, the analysts believe. | maywillow

31/3/2004 08:09 | VON Keynote: Alcatel -- Migrating from VoIP to MMoIP "We are at the dawn of the rich, media-connected world," said Vickie Yohie, Senior Vice President, Multimedia Services Delivery, Alcatel, speaking at the Spring VON conference in Santa Clara, California. But it is not just about VoIP, she said, as VoIP "is just one face of a larger market shift to user centric Multimedia over IP (MMoIP)" -- technology that is transforming the way enterprises and service providers communicate. Why MMoIP? Yohie argues "because we can" and "because there is genuine market enthusiasm to do so." Over the past few years, the pain points inside most large enterprises have changed -- the corporate workers of today complain most about a new set of collaboration challenges, most of which are rooted in the lack of coordination between communications channels. These issues, argues Yohie, can be addressed by user centric business services delivered using MMoIP. Consumers are also ready for value added services. While last year can be remembered as the Year of the Consumer Bundles, Yohie said tremendous pressure is now building among operators to differentiate those consumer bundles using unified messaging. Among broadband households with a home business, some 60% are interested in unified messaging, according to a survey commissioned by the company.. 30-Mar-04 | maywillow

The plan will also see 900 other workers redeployed and responds to the decline in sectors such as conventional fixed-line networks against growth in the mobile services sector, Alcatel said. A total of €40.07 billion (R330.97 billion) in sales was recorded by the association that represents the vast majority of French aerospace firms. The group qualified 2002 as a "gloomy" year during which orders had plunged 27 percent to €25.57 billion. Last year, orders for military equipment increased 149 percent while civilian material showed a rise of 24 percent, GIFAS said. The civilian sector nonetheless continued to represent the majority of sales, with 59 percent of the total. In monetary terms, civilian sales increased to €23.45 billion from €18.88 billion in 2002, while military orders rose to €16.62 billion from €6.68 billion. top.DisplayAds("Pos7 Exports accounted for 67 percent of all sales at €26.7 billion euros, up from €16.33 billion. Military equipment showed strong export growth while domestic orders were stable. Civilian sales, meanwhile, were curbed by geopolitical tensions and the SARS epidemic, the association noted. The aerospace sector had a difficult year, with sales slipping 12 percent to €2.76 billion from €3.1 billion in 2002. Fresh orders taken in by EADS Astrium and Alcatel Space could nonetheless give the sector a boost this year. The number of jobs in the combined sectors remained globally unchanged at around 101 500 despite economic difficulties, GIFAS said. - AFP | grupo guitarlumber

22/3/2004 18:38 | Where the French vendor falls down, says Beniston, is in getting its convergence message across. "Alcatel's softswitch presentation leaves a lot to be desired. It's difficult to understand. Its approach to the market is similar to that of Siemens. They both want to migrate their existing voice switch customers into the VOIP world. But Siemens has a presentation and strategy for operators that's simple to understand. Alcatel doesn't." Beniston notes that Alcatel is likely focused on its large Tier 1 customers and may not have put as much resource into winning smaller accounts, though its most recent announcement of a softswitch contract was with a small Russian operator (see Alcatel Tests VOIP Waters in Russia ). | grupo guitarlumber |
