Top Level Domain Holdings Ltd Portfolio updateTIDMTLDHRNS Number : 5542XTop Level Domain Holdings Ltd14 January 2014For immediate release14 January 2014Top Level Domain Holdings Limited("TLDH", the "Company" or "Group")gTLD Portfolio UpdateThe Directors of Top Level Domain Holdings (AIM: TLDH) are pleased to provide an update on the progress of its uncontested gTLD applications, Minds + Machines' OPEN Priority Reservation programme and the private auction process.Progress of uncontested TLDH and client applicationsOf the 24 uncontested applications in which TLDH has an interest, the Company is delighted to confirm that contracts have now been exchanged with ICANN on seventeen - fifteen of which are wholly/majority owned by TLDH, with the remaining two being client-led applications. The fifteen TLDH wholly/majority owned applications where contracts have now been signed and exchanged with ICANN are: .FISHING, .CASA, .BUDAPEST, .VODKA, .RODEO, .WORK, .MIAMI, .COOKING, .HORSE, .LUXE, .NRW, .COUNTRY, .BAYERN, .BEER, and .SURF. Of these, .FISHING, .CASA, .BUDAPEST, .COOKING, and .HORSE have already passed pre-delegation testing ("PDT").The directors are confident that all of its uncontested portfolio will continue to move smoothly through the PDT and final approval phases ahead of delegation into the Internet's root zone.Meanwhile, TLDH's portfolio of uncontested client-led applications continues to progress well with .KIWI now delegated into the Internet's root and scheduled to start its Sunrise later in January. The Sunrise is the 30-60 day period where trademark owners can claim their name within a new gTLD ahead of the public launch of a new top level domain.Priority Reservation PlatformFurther to the announcement of 18 December, reservations for TLDH's wholly-owned domains .CASA, .COOKING, and .HORSE via the Company's OPEN Priority Reservation platform continues to be strong, as have early sales of PeopleBrowsr's .CEO and .BEST names which are also available through Minds + Machines OPEN service. To date, 17 registrars from around the world have signed Registry-Registrar Agreements ("RRAs") with TLDH enabling them to market/sell names to consumers within TLDH owned domains when launched; in addition 11 registrars have agreed to implement Minds + Machines' Priority Reservation service thereby extending its marketing reach.Private and ICANN Auction UpdateAs previously announced, the directors fully expect TLDH to participate in the upcoming private auctions for the 43 contested strings in which it has an interest as and when they occur. The Board also notes ICANN has recently published a preliminary schedule for potential ICANN sponsored auctions for contested strings on which ICANN is seeking comment ( The Board believes this development should provide further stimulus to those applicants not wishing to go down the ICANN auction route to resolve contention issues in a timely manner and enable the Company to take a more strategic view on those applications that advance to the ICANN auction rounds.Antony Van Couvering, Group CEO, commented:"We have an exceptionally strong portfolio of uncontested applications already in place, the first of which are now entering their respective launch phases. We likewise are gathering significant market insights through our OPEN platform which in turn is enabling us to better understand the potential value of our contested gTLDs. We therefore look forward to advancing our contested portfolio in a manner that best returns value to our shareholders."Further Information:Top Level Domain Holdings LimitedNorth America Antony Van Couvering Tel: + 1 917 406 7126 Beaumont Cornish Limited (Nomad) Tel +44 (0) 20 7628 3396 Roland CornishMichael CornishN+1 Singer (Broker) Matt Thomas/Shaun Dobson Tel +44 (0) 20 7496 3000 gth media relations Toby Hall /Suzanne Johnson Walsh Tel: +44 (0) 20 7822 7493/2 Or visit the group's website atwww.tldh.orgAbout Top Level Domain Holdings LimitedTop Level Domain Holding is a publicly traded holding company listed on the AIM market of the London Stock Exchange focused on the new top-level domain space. TLDH opens up list of 70,000 premium names for all new gTLDs

Kevin Murphy, January 14, 2014, 03:54:37 (UTC), Domain Services
Top Level Domain Holdings has ramped up its new gTLD pre-registration effort with a new database service that enables registries to automatically collate and price their premium names.

The new OpenDB.co service builds on the Online Priority Enhanced Names system we reported on during the ICANN meeting in Buenos Aires a couple months ago.

TLDH chairman Fred Krueger told DI today that new gTLD registry operators will be able to automatically generate a list of up to 70,000 premium names - with associated prices - for their TLD(s).

It works using a proprietary taxonomy of strings in 500 categories, put together by about 30 people working for TLDH, and baseline .com pricing estimates calculated by various only tools such as Estibot.

If you're the registry for .web, for example, you might decide that all premium .web domains are worth 50% of the .com price, and you could create your premium names list accordingly with just a few clicks.

But if you're the registry for a narrower, niche gTLD, you might want to assign values by category, subcategory or individual name.

If you're .poker, you might decide that names in the OpenDB "gambling" category are worth 300% of .com, due to the affinity between the TLD and the second level, and that "sports" names are worth 50%, but everything else is worth just 1% of the corresponding .com name.

A possible drawback of the system might be that the algorithmic .com price estimates underlying it are just that - estimates, based on factors such as Google search volume and Adwords cost-per-click.

Online tools that do this kind of price estimation are quite often criticized or mocked for under- or over-pricing names in existing TLDs.

Another drawback might be that while 70,000 is certainly a lot of strings, it might not dive deeply enough into the potential premium pool for very niche gTLDs.

If the service catches on, I expect it will wind up competing with consultancies that offer expertise-based pricing, such as Right Of The Dot, and brokerage platforms such as Sedo.

So far only PeopleBrowsr (.ceo, .best) has openly committed to use the system.

TLDH says that it will start offering any names in OpenDB via its affiliated Minds + Machines registrar, with a 20% markup.

There's also an OpenDB API that registrars can use to add these premium names to their own storefronts, Krueger said.

credibility.............
if you buy one of these new domain names for your company, especially during the sunrise period, you will have to go through a vetting processes which could take some time, BUT when you have successfully bought it anyone clicking on it will know that you have a legitimate company that will give some peace of mind,as for some of us the internet can be a daunting place to hand over your card details.
just a thought ..but i think this alone will sway any doubters as more and more people become aware of this rebirth for the way we use the internet
cheers

New gTLD Updates: 13 January

Written by Kirsty Holmes on 13.01.2014
New gTLDs Launched

.BID – Reservation Program

Famous Four Media, the registry operator for the new gTLD .BID, has announced the launch of its pre-Sunrise Reservation Program.

The Reservation Program consists of two phases as follows:

Bid-on-.BID: 20 January 2014 (14:00 UTC) to 14 February 2014 (10:00 UTC)

During Phase 1, it will be possible to bid for second-level domains under .BID, with minimum bids of USD 20. Reservations will also be accepted at the Landrush price of USD 19.98 on a first-come, first-served basis, however registrations receiving a higher bid price will get priority and multiple bids on a domain for the same amount will result in the earliest submitted bid winning the domain.

First-Come, First-Served (FCFS) Reservations: 19February 2014 (14:00 UTC)

During Phase 2, reservations will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis at the Landrush price of USD 19.98 and no further Bid-on-.BID reservations will be permitted.

Domain reservations will be subject to Sunrise priority applications and the Trademark Claims Period.

Com Laude fees are additional and VAT will be added where applicable.

Should you wish to place an order, or for further information please contact your Client Manager or admin@comlaude.com

.CEO

Registry operator CEOTLD Pty Ltd has announced the launch phases for its new gTLD .CEO.

The Sunrise period, for trademark holders, is set to run from 10 February 2014 to 12 March 2014 and this will be followed by a Landrush Period on 17 March 2014, where domains will be open to everyone and contested applications will result in an auction.

Domains will finally be available on a first-come, first-served basis from 28 March 2014 under the General Availability phase.

Further information will follow soon.

this article was posted on 12th nov 2013 from AJPark
gives a good idea of how the sunrise period for .KIWI works

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dot Kiwi Limited has announced applications will open tomorrow, 13 November 2013, for a limited number of 'premium' domain names in the .kiwi registry. A 60-day Sunrise Period for trade mark owners is scheduled to begin in December, but first, a selection of names will be made available during a short application period which will last up to no longer than the end of November. Dot Kiwi's CEO Tim Johnson has confirmed only a 'fraction of a percentage' of the total names available will be reserved during this time.

Anyone can apply to register any domain name during the premium application period. Each application will be carefully assessed and if it is deemed appropriate, it will be reserved for the successful applicant. Mr Johnson has confirmed that applications made during the premium period will not pre-empt the rights of trade mark owners to apply for domain names matching their trade marks during the official Sunrise Period, which is expected to begin in mid-December. Domain names reserved during this period must also not conflict with other trade mark owners' rights in New Zealand. Even if a successful domain name application is made during the premium application period, Dot Kiwi will not be able to release it until the end of the official Sunrise Period.

Most domain names approved during this premium application period will cost NZ$300 + GST for a three-year registration. However, Dot Kiwi have advised they have an unpublicised list of 'premium names' which will cost more. Fees are payable only on registration - there is no cost to apply.

This is essentially a time when people who do not have registered trade marks can apply to register 'generic' or otherwise valuable domain names, before the general public. Dot Kiwi has identified possible premium names as including movies.kiwi, pizza.kiwi, bikes.kiwi, laptops.kiwi and shoes.kiwi. You can find out more about applying for these domains during the premium release at www.dot-kiwi.com, or you can contact AJ Park for more advice.

When the Sunrise Period for trade mark owners begins in December, only trade mark owners who have registered their marks with the Trademark Clearinghouse will be able to apply for the matching .kiwi domain name. There is still time to do this - registration usually only takes two to three weeks, and the Sunrise Period will last for 60 days.

After the Sunrise Period, the remaining domain names will become available to the general public - first during a 30-day 'landrush, and thereafter on a first come, first served basis. Dot Kiwi says it expects these general release names to cost about NZ$39 per year to register.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Morning Johnma, good to see you back. Agreed wholeheartedly with those sentiments.

I'm taking some time away from stockwatching generally as my PF is pretty well constructed (imo) with TLDH held for the Takeover exit strategy I believe the Directors are envisaging (and reinforced through the CEO's video interview) - it thereby makes life a lot simpler as price movements in between are pretty irrelevant tbh.

We have key strategic execution that'll be the priority now, with 2014 being the major transition year for TLDH.

Off to enjoy the day.

The new offerings will be "more descriptive of your business," said Irving.

GoDaddy is offering pre-registration now on its website for names like .photographer, .bike and .plumbing, and plans to open up 20 new ones on a weekly basis through the year.

GoDaddy currently has registered 56 million of the 250 million domain names in use online. See highlights of the interview in the accompanying clip.

LAS VEGAS - GoDaddy, the company that helps businesses and individuals with website domain names and hosting, sees the process becoming a whole lot easier in 2014.

In the past, folks setting up their sites worried about whether to take the .com setting, or settle for a .biz or .net if .com wasn't available.

But in the coming weeks, some 800 new alternatives will become available, including .lawyer, .doctor, .pizza and other more relevant names. That's the word from Blake Irving, CEO of GoDaddy.

Yep, used Google's Adwords keyword tool to generate Horse/equestrian related phrases. In the database that couldnt be registered are lots of breeds, equipment, and generics like buy.horse, black.horse, gift.horse, trojan.horse and some really nothing words such as aaa.horse. Its really worth having a little play for yourself just to get an idea of what is registered.I would release the list once converted into a readable format, at the minute its on a webserver on a mysql database. Also, i am thinking of a way of how to produce a more complete list whilst also not hammering the m+m webserver.

Understand what your saying Parsons, however TLDH are a public traded company. Therefore they will be required to provide annual/quarterly financial updates. The only substantial revenue can be from domain registrations and auctions lost.

Obviously the company would be mad to give any indication of the funds coming in from presales as they would be increasing the price for future domain names. The company will likely be very shy about giving out any SALES information.
