08/8/2018 18:05 | Coal is by far the dominant fuel for baseload. Gas power stations in Southern Africa, maybe all africa is ridiculously low and needs to rise. And probably will in time. Windbag - your enthusiasm is making you very sloppy in your assertions and opinions here. As for tomorrow, I am not expecting to hear much detail of the discussion. After all, it is a Govt tender so will Vo t be happy to ‘read all about it’ in a Tlou RNS. I think not personally, but we will see. | donkey40
08/8/2018 06:45 | Thanks ftangftang - solid article. Unquestionably this will need to be remedied. The world over is moving to gas and renewables. Gas is the preferred base load. | wheniamfree
08/8/2018 06:17 | Southren Africa power consumption spirals Publishing Date : 07 August, 2018 Author : TSAONE SEGAETSHO Despite its persistent power shortages, Southern Africa power appetite is expected to grow to uncontrollable proportions into the next decade with annual energy (GWh) growing by 43 % while peak demand rises by 52 % for countries in the region, something that horoscopes a gloomy future in the region that is prone to power crises. These estimates are according to a fresh study made by power consultancy group Mott MacDonald Group called Southern African Power Market Study which further estimated that generation capacity in Botswana will be challenged in future like it happened in 2016 when it was 300 MW at Morupule B while the average daily demand was 400-500 MW in the same period. Mott MacDonald made the study in conjunction with energy firm Tlou Energy Limited which wants to produce low carbon energy source which will replace the use of coal and diesel in the production of electricity-ending the Botswana Power Corporation power supply monopoly as a result easing the utility’s burden. full article here cheers ft ft | ftangftang
07/8/2018 21:32 | Guess who said: Buying opportunity from the weak, unresearched and impatient; Quiet spells are time to accumulate; Don’t think we’ll be waiting long in the new year if I’m honest; The final pieces of news to drop will transform the company; Tony has stated on record that Govt have indicated a modular approach is acceptable; I’m sure Tlou will deliver above and beyond expectations; Don’t assume those selling know as much as those who research; The herd have yet to arrive, the board will be alive when it does; It’s gradually rising week on week, mth on mth but this is nothing; They just pulled in some cash (BSE) ...so I think dilution will be slim to none; Primed to move higher, big money moving in, buyer soaking loose stock up, big buyer at that; Market is waking up to realisation of the level this company has progressed to; With or without news, there is a significant buyer waiting in the wings here; All holders, this is just the beginning and Tlou is getting the recognition it deserves; If anyone is new here or even just wants to brush up on research and listen to some podcast go to ‘the site of .....’ Should continue to climb even without news, we all know it isn’t far away; Anybody selling out today could be locked out when news is dropped; Amazes me the number of people that sell right on the cusp of such big news; Just hold them tight, this has a long way to rise imho short, mid and Long term; | donkey40
07/8/2018 20:55 | Can’t see what he’s wrote Divmad but I can assume it’s more “BS opinion”. Donkey doesn’t understand the business or AIM. Spent three years posting rubbish so just whack him on filter - best way, no problem with differing opinion but this one would find a negative in a £100m windfall or a cure for cancer. | wheniamfree
07/8/2018 20:39 | What's your incentive in pointing out the negatives here, Donkey40? | divmad
07/8/2018 17:17 | My god, they are off and sprinting down the wrong road yet again. Tlou are bidding for 10MW scalable - do you expect Govt to say OK here is 50 or 75 or 100 just in case you can do more sometime. The latest presentation last week confirmed yet again 10MW being bid - and presumably that is awarded and the PPA is agreed on delivery of that. It would be a minefield just too difficult to imagine expecting all sides to negotiate and agree a PPA for 10MW first but something else in the event you have more to sell. It actually is that simple - except for most of you lot. | donkey40
07/8/2018 17:09 | I heard Sekaname were not ready to attend the pretender meeting and have requested a delay. Typical. | donkey40
07/8/2018 16:05 | 2 days to pre-tender meeting. Advanced confirmation that all the documents are in order and both sides are happy with the requirements will add a big tick in the box prior to submission. | wheniamfree
07/8/2018 14:53 | Tidd must be on holiday - he isn’t posting away keeping people right, on point and on message. And he hasn’t updated the site - in fact it’s starting to seem like he has withdrawal symptoms. That should be worrying for some of you .... But I imagine he will drop in with the occasional reassuring words of warmth saying still here, still following, still very much on track, still happy to wait. Maybe he has a different remuneration model now - since the previous one was very volume orientated. But, as you cheerleaders like to point out, you meet all sorts of strange on the boards. Shame Khama and Masisi are not getting along too well currently. Does anyone think that will propel or fast track Tlou and business in general faster forward in Botswana .... I don’t but then I’m weird, tell lies, am under-researched, and here just to annoy the clever people. | donkey40
07/8/2018 14:19 | Edit...although that is through the journalist interpretation.. so taken with a pinch of salt | ftangftang
07/8/2018 14:16 | Yep But useful to understand the sentiment/thinking by GG and the company Cheers Ft ft | ftangftang
07/8/2018 14:12 | 2016 article | uncle andy
07/8/2018 13:36 | Have to consider this is a journo's interpretation. But can see why GG has said the decision has alreay been made ... .....Tlou and Sekaname will each provide 50MW of CBM-fired power plants. Tlou, which flared its first gas in 2014, says it has the most advanced CBM project in Botswana. It holds 10 prospecting licences covering an area of 8,300 square kms and its flagship the Lesedi project already benefits from significant, independently certified contingent resources of 3.3 trillion cubic feet (TCF) (3C). Tlou acting managing director Gabaake Gabaake said: “We are elated by this decision and look forward to receiving the full details from the government. Although we always planned to expand our project beyond the 10MW initially envisaged as being fast-tracked for development, a 50MW project is five times larger than expected and a fabulous result for the company. Importantly it provides more certainty to our investment case to increase our power output as we develop our field. “A larger project also provides more options regarding project development as well as potential benefits from economies of scale.” | mr.oz
07/8/2018 10:19 | God there is a lot of b*llocks talked about gas in Bots. Strata-X in there last quarterly claim to have 689/- acres and ‘3.34Tcf prospective resource tenement position’. And working on a staged exploration plan to delineate and prove the CSG Resource. And they have a million bucks in the bank - I suppose supporters will say they are fully funded as well. And you will not believe it but their coal seams are so rich that ‘some previously drilled wells flowed or bubbled free gas from the target coal reservoir’ with sweet spots ranging in 8-12 metres thick. Sweet gas - imagine that. Except Strata have yet to drill more than 1 or 2 core wells, so did they buy this data or how did they come about it?! If they bought it, that means somebody didn’t want it coz they sold it. My god, the mind can’t keep up with the possibilities here ..... | donkey40
06/8/2018 16:40 | Well I've just bought some, great long term potential:-) | blackburnrover |
