First the NMS is 2k. Second, I am sure the mms will buy whatever amount you have to actually sell. I suspect your trying a "dummy" (no pun intended) sell online and have not contacted a broker directly.

Why your talking such rubbish is another matter! Why not do us a favour and sell your couple of shares and move on if thats the way you feel about the company and its well respected chairman.

EXCLUSIVE: SHILPA TO JOIN QUESTION TIME

Interesting comment by columnist Melanie Phillips ( on the continuing editorial problems of the TIN subsidiary Mentorn's BBC programme "Question Time"

She calls "Question Time" "morally eviscerated" and criticises the low quality of the debate on last Friday's programme. There is a big editorial problem with this programme with its preselected PC audience and PC agenda. Of course all independent producers like TIN have to deliver their BBC customer what it wants - but I wonder if it has to be quite so craven in complying with its master's voice?

Good article from Broadcast. However, maybe not surprisingly no mention of Tinopolis - one of the top 5 'Super-Indies'. What do you guys make of it. Could we be looking at a takeover or merger. At present i couldn't give a monkeys as long as that damn 40p disappeared!

Super-indies look at next wave of deals
Dan Wootton
8:00am
The likelihood of a new owner for Endemol has increased the probability of a "mega-indie" merger involving a number of the UK's top 20 producers occurring at some point this year.

Informal conversations about the possibility of some of the biggest names in independent production joining forces have kicked off in the last month.

The head of a top 10 indie, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed that early talks had taken place.

The chief executive said: "There are a lot of interesting conversations going on at the moment among the bigger groups. There are half a dozen companies that are not aligned at the moment and are now viewed as being able to get together to create real scale."

Second wave

Super-indies that could be part of a second wave of further consolidation include All3Media, RDF Media Group, Iostar, Shed and Shine.

Medium-sized independent producers Objective, Hat Trick, Optomen, Wall to Wall and Twenty Twenty have also been mentioned in initial discussions as they are considered ready to sell to a bigger group.

A number of potential new owners for Endemol are thought to be keen to see the company embark on an acquisitions drive – a change in strategy from that of current owner Telefónica, which has shied away from major purchases. John de Mol is believed to be interested in RDF Media Group and Shed Productions, owner of Supernanny producer Ricochet, which he attempted to buy before the company listed.

Another indie head said: "The imminent Endemol deal has got everyone thinking. People such as Eileen Gallagher, David Frank and Lis Murdoch have been approached by intermediaries and advisers about what to do next."

By forming a large-scale mega-indie some advisers believe the producers will be shoring up their future and counteracting the danger of an unwanted takeover.

Close to the chest

A company considered most likely to be involved in the next wave of consolidation is All3Media, which after its £320m investment by venture capitalist Permira has been a handed a war chest for further growth through acquisitions.

"Permira paid that price because it is assuming All3Media will be a consolidator. The only way that anyone can deliver that sort of return will undoubtedly involve further major acquisitions. So there are expectations that Steve Morrison will make further moves," a City source said.

Iostar also provides a fresh threat to existing super-indies as it embarks on its own acquisitions drive to become a super media group. Described as the "dark horse" in the race to form a mega-indie, it is expected to buy two or three producers in the near future.

A separate indie head said discussions about future business plans were fast moving, although securing deals will still be very difficult given the various companies' different motives.

"A lot of people are scurrying around as the landscape is about to dramatically change. I need to be aware and be thinking what my response to these scenarios will be. I'm not saying a deal is about to happen. But the catalyst for all this is the fact that Endemol will get sold by the end of March."

According to a number of media analysts, there are significant pros and cons involved in becoming a "mega-indie". Like it or loathe it, the consensus is increasingly clear that this is how the next phase of consolidation will look.

Pros

"Increased and improved efficiency and a broader offering to broadcasters in terms of programming content. Commercially you are better equipped to deal with broadcasters on an even scale than if you are a smaller outfit that lives and dies by the next commission"

"Library sales are becoming increasingly lucrative. You can attract some of the big networks (particularly in the US ) and sell block programming to them"

"This stresses more than ever the correlation between size and quality. It's the bigger players who are able to produce the big, consistently high-quality programmes. Scale offers obvious advantages. The more people you have working for you, the more chance you have of making hits"

"The bigger you are, the more you can afford the overheads to professionalise the business"

Cons

"This is a useful and sensible conversation to have but ultimately, success comes down to personalities, not commercial logic"

"There could be cultural differences. Some of the big indies, like Shed, are lean outfits while others have a large infrastructure supporting the business. This reflects a different approach"

"The danger is that broadcasters may just decide to go to larger indies as a one-stop shop, which could make the TV industry very bland"

"The downside is that not everybody wants to work in a tower block with thousands of people"

It's all about catch-up Ludlow, just got to be patient, in time mms. will push this stock forward on its prospects, happens every time. The rating is very low if you take in to account the cash on the balance sheet, all the hard work with the acquisition is being done. If they are not careful Tinopolis will become a target itself.

Probably no alot in response to 413, Mentorn is now producing more and more drama/documentaries, QT may be a reasonable franchise, but I hardly think folk sit up for it especially. They now have many more strings to their bow, resources easily applied elsewhere. Working for the BBC is hardly lucrative, budgets getting tighter and tighter.

Regarding Question Time -I feel the quality of the panel is much lower than previously.Thursday's panel left a lot to be desired. This was one of my favourite programmes ,I now prefer this week which follows Question Time.
So please pick a better panel. On several occasions I felt as if the panelist(especially the MP's) are reciting party policy like parrots and have obviously been coached before the programme.

The Question Time franchise is currently up for grabs. At the moment the programme is made by Mentorn, a Tinopolis subsidiary; four companies (one of which is Mentorn) are on the short list to make the programme.

What will the impact on Tinopolis's earnings and hence share price be if its subsidiary, Mentorn, loses the Question Time franchise?
