I note that the news release did not confirm that the NAV was on a fully diluted basis.

Agreed lizzie - easy way of raising the asset value further for those of us who hang on!

One reason why the NAV is looking good is the buyback of shares. Note the buyout announced this week actually occurred on 30th September so would have been taken into account when fixing the NAV on that date.

At the current discount to NAV one of the best things TIR can buy is .... TIR!

Paragraph 6 Schedule A1 Taxation of Chargeable Gains Act 1992 seems to wrap it up quite neatly

shawzie. Yes they are one of the same. SVE invests smaller amounts and not exclusively in resources.

Still not sure that's correct hxj. I believe and hope they will qualify for Business Asset Taper Relief after checking the inland revenue website they refer to unquoted companies and regard AIM stocks as unquoted. Couldn't find reference to limit to trading companies except when you hold more than 5%. Jury is still out for me. If anyone can find evidence in the IR rules please advise, thanks.

The chairman of TIGER (TIR) is published as Bruce Rowan.
The chairman of Starvest (SVE) is published as R Bruce Rowan.
Does anyone know if this is the same person?

TIR will not qualify as business assets as the company is not trading.

Simple really!

Yes AIM & OFEX qualify for reduced relief but just a little unsure about investment companies like TIR. I got relief this year on several AIM shares disposed of last tax year without a problem. My accountants consulted a list they have but unlikely to sell TIR before this year end so can't test the water until I submit my info and that is at least June 2007. Scarey having to look so far ahead. If I do sell them this year they've either dissappointed or been bought out! Anyway since February I'm 20% ahead even making up the spread. That's comparing my cost with current bid and the taxman hopefully is going to get max. 10% of the gain.
