17/12/2023 18:13 | Best buy was a ceramic hob soso easy to clean (nothing burns on it) as easy to control heat setting stays constant like gas less wasted power as small pan on medium gas ring tended to only have 70% of the gas heating the pan. Extremely quick to boil. | rovi70
17/12/2023 17:26 | Lovely wife, I used to have one of those lol Yes the burners will show up when you are looking for something else, it's just one of those things | 2gekko
17/12/2023 12:43 | Actually what is annoying is I have a spare burners somewhere from years ago but cannot find where I have put them....they will turn up now I have ordered. | jonjonck
17/12/2023 12:32 | My lovely wife last week accidently used the gas cooker with one of the hob caps misplaced. Burned under the cap and twisted the burner. Its quite old but fortunately I have found a replacement of this obsolete part at £19 delivered. Also buying new caps to smarten the burners up at £17 for 4 as she also burned a hole in the squint one. These things happen. | jonjonck
17/12/2023 10:45 | Morning Oh dear that does sound a nuisance and I will probably have the same with this water leak, nice to see the temperature up a bit and dry here | 2gekko
17/12/2023 09:37 | Good Morning. Looks like I have missed a day. Well done Gates. Reinstatement team put my garden back together yesterday...been impressed so far with the gas workers but not this lot. I dug the plants back out and put back in lower and in right positions, redid the edging stones in the right place to line up with others and re-laid the paving blocks in the right pattern and get rid of the dip they left. I also cemented around the new pipe in the wall neatly to match the wall finish. Much better! All I need now is some stone chips to put along the edge of the path where they have disappeared and they just replaced with soil. | jonjonck
16/12/2023 09:27 | Morning Good for you Gates, I've always felt the state retirement age is too high A dizzy ten degrees here but wet | 2gekko
16/12/2023 07:12 | Good morning Gents Been extra busy of recent, so apologies for lack of posts. At the beginning of December I took early retirement from Education. So happy to have stopped work in my 50's. It feels a bit odd but also very good. Time for my family, my garden and the mountains - plus my shares! Enjoy your weekends :-) | gateside

15/12/2023 17:19 | A snail staggers into a police station "Please help I have just been mugged by two slugs"......"That's terrible" says the desk Sergeant "have you got an accurate description, which might help" "Your joking" says the snail "it all happened so fast" | jonjonck
15/12/2023 08:14 | Good Morning. I am still here. Christmas shopping online is keeping me busy. Not so good re your water supply. However paving blocks are easier to reinstate than tarmac. I was looking last night at the other two washing machine paddles. One is fine and other other seems to have a locating lug broken off so maybe they are beginning to age and weaken. I have now ordered a set of 3 which I should have got in the first place. I did not think...but never mind... gives me a spare. | jonjonck
15/12/2023 07:52 | Morning Our resident Mr fixit is rather quiet, must be a big job on somewhere, I'm back at wok today but then have a four day weekend, well sort of as there's no one to cover me so still log in a couple of times a day for urgent stuff but still good to have a kind of day off | 2gekko
14/12/2023 17:20 | I don't know yet, just hope it's either their bit or if not then at the front where it's easier to access, the drive is block paved and I think it runs up the side of the house to the kitchen at the back, I had this years ago at a different house and as luck had it the leak was right outside the kitchen window so was an easy fix | 2gekko

13/12/2023 13:43 | Back from Asda, wife not happy with me as I did my good deed for Christmas at Asda this morning . I was behind an old lady at check-out. Her bill came to £28 but she only had £20 and claimed she must have lost £10 in the shop. I felt very sorry for her. She didn't want help but I insisted and in no time at all, we had most of her shopping back on the shelves. | rovi70 |
